I'll be in Singapore next week. Does anyone know how many hours per month they fly. Their income profile is based on max hours and I wanted to know what is the actual average.
Thinking about personaly taking CV. I would take any advice.

the tiger programme will be commencing on 29 oct, 15 are selected, thou a few have not cleared their medical.
They are given until 12 October to decide if they r going for the programme. Thereafter, staa may pick the rest from the waiting list to fill the gap.

I didn't see how people applied to this programme or I may have missed.
Do you apply to STAA to do CPL/IR and thus qualified to apply for Tiger cadet programme or you apply to Tiger direct and Tiger places you into the STAA after accepting you?
Either way, yes, I know the $185k fee, which is the STAA fee...

Alternatively, try with the letter of intent/employment and bang on the doors of the banks.
I believe the loan amount is pegged to the wages of the guarantor. So pick your wealthy relative. I hope this helps.

Hi guys sorry i'm new to this forum.
Just finished my NS a couple of weeks ago and was really getting quite interested in this pilot business. Been reading alot and flying on my FSX everyday.
Just curious is it worthwhile to join STAA's program? like is the chance of getting a job at tiger high? the price seems really hefty tho...
Or is it more worthwhile to do a flying degree at like Massey or UNSW? However those CPL's are CASA approved and not CAAS which is required in singapore right so what's the chances of getting a job then. Sorry correct me if i made any mistakes. Still new! Thanks!

Good to know you are keen to pursue this line. Lots of things to think about so spend some good time going through it all.
The STAA program is a self-sponsored program. Means that you get a CAAS CPL/IR at the end. STAA ties up with Tiger so what Tiger may do if there's vacancy is that sometime during your ground school phase they will interview the students that are interested. If you are successful then you switch over to the MPL program and get a job with Tiger on the condition that you successfully complete the course. If you are not selected then you continue with your CPL/IR as planned.
As you have just completed your NS I assume you don't have a university degree. Airline cadet programs are very competitive and in the absence of your flying record they will then browse through applicants' academic records before doing the selection for interview. So if you have a university degree you then stand a better chance of being called up. Also a university degree acts as a backup, in case for some whatever reason you don't get to fly.
Massey and UNSW programs are good, albeit expensive. Yes you do get a NZCAA / CASA licence. That depends on what you want to do with it later. If you insist of coming back to Singapore, then you will need to convert your licence to CAAS licence which involves rewriting all ATPL exams, flight test, and an employment contract with a Singaporean air operator. Remember all these are subjected to changes. If you don't need to come back to Singapore then you are free to use your licence to find other flying jobs around the world. Just need to convert to the local licence if you're not flying in NZ / Australia.
I spoke to a Massey representative recently and she mentioned that the coursework you do for the degree is their ATPL equivalent, so you do not need to spend additional time doing ATPL ground school.

to add on, STAA programme for CPL/IR is abt S$140k(no type rating), MPL is abt S$200k
so far, past batches from STAA with CAAS license are able to get into airlines. Tiger, Jetstar n SilkAir, while some went to Indonesia
