Recency In India from FAA License.

Can someone help me out with this problem?
I have my FAA ME CPL license and it has been about 2 years since I got back from the US. Now I need to reapply for the M1 VISA right? My current VISA mentions its valid until October 2013, but someone from the VFS office said if you are out of the country for more than 5 months, then you need to reapply.
On the other hand, some students I have spoken to say its better to just go using the same VISA and they have no problems in the US.
I am confused

Why are people getting M1 visas to do recency? Just apply for a tourist visa and go! If you're not going to be there more than the duration of a tourist visa why bother?
If you feel bad about "lying", go do a bit of sighseeing at the same time then.

VFS is right in saying that M1 visa is not valid anymore if you have been out of the US for more than 6 months in a row .
You will have to get a new M1 visa allover again

Indore is good for recency but flying charges there are very high.My friend did it from there and he told that beside flying fee you have to pay airport charges + instructor charges like US + membership fee.

The thing is I am not just going there to get my recency done but also my SE CPL. So I guess I have no choice but to reapply?
Some guys I know say that if you have a VISA until 2013, just go with it to the US and they won't stop you at the port of entry. Is that true?

Hi guys..
I have FAA cpl and I applied for conversion to indian.
When i went for recency i did the 250 nm xcountry and 120 nm xcountry on different types of aircrafts.
Now those guys are saying that i need to do whole recency again.
Please let me know what should i do?

@Anirudh..............Please email your query to [email protected] or call All India Helpline Number : 0120 - 6611411..............however i would strongly recommend you to do your recency in India.Why do you want to go back to the US when you know that DGCA will be more than happy to turn your application request down, citing any damn reason...............I did my flying from US too but did recency in India as they rejected my Visa three times.But today hearing what people have to say about DGCA rejecting applications of those people who did recency from abroad,I'm not complaining..............Trust me......follow my advice....do it in India........it may be a touch expensive but you wont be spending any money on your travelling,staying in India would be anytime less expensive and food again we can survive.........lastly its your call Because you are the PIC

Were it just the matter of recency, I wouldn't have bothered going abroad. The problem, as I mentioned earlier, is that I have only a ME CPL and not a SE. And that too on the BE76. So staying back in India would mean, flying the PA34 for 10 hours and 15 additional on the C172, right? That turns out to be quite expensive.
Turned down 3 times for the VISA? Mind if I ask why??
