re: JotaJota
Ciao.
It was just to tell you that you can also have the 30 days leaves per year & 8 days off per month instead of 6 weeks on-2 weeks off.
See the below links.
World Aviation Systems Inc
30 day of paid personal leave per year
8 Hard Days off/month
I would like to know how big is the material to study and when your interview has been done if you can give us a report.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks I had that info. My interview has been cancelled twice this month and expecting to int there next month.
Also I "heard" that out of 7 expats that int this week, 5 did not make it. Study material could be lengthy but in a few weeks it can be done. Your recruiter will supply you with most of it.
Good luck and will post once I interview, if I ever do...

Beijing Capitals new pay
Beings us pilots never run into each other in the airport any more, can someone that is currently flying for Beijing Capital please PM me. I am currently a captain on the A320 with another airline in china and would like to change airlines.
I know about the release letter but am more interested in actual take home pay, do you actually get the 2 weeks off after your 6 weeks on, ability to get overtime, will they allow you to choose Guangzhou as a base, has anyone switched to BC from another Chinese carrier and any other information that you may have.
Thank you in advance.

Take home pay is as advertised, although I don't believe anyone has received the end of contract bonus as of yet. A couple of the original pilots here just finished their initial contract. Hopefully they will be getting the bonus soon.
BCA expects you to fly 80 hrs per month, every month. To that end, and the fact that they do calender months and not "30 day windows", they want you to take your vacation over the end of a month. So instead of 6/2, it is 45 days/15 days. Same Same.
BCA and Spring are both "sniping" Chinese pilots from other Chinese carriers. I have flown with half a dozen. Rumor has it that a couple of expats are coming from Spring, but I cannot confirm that yet.
I have been on line for just over a month and that is all the factual info that I have.

Thanks for the reply.
Is anyone getting a fuel or safety bonus? If I wanted Guangzhou as a base, what are my chances? In those 45 days, how much time off in between schedules...how much rest time (2-3 days?).
Thanks

Release Letter
Even if you are told you will and DO get a letter all official like Mate, unless later the CAAC is advised internally by them in written form and this is done deeply "Under the radar", in Chinese (you will never see a copy) - no chance to move. So you could and will most likely end up with nothing.

JCIIVMB:
There is no fuel saving bonus, at least on my contract. There is an annual bonus that is safety related I believe. I think they have been paying that, but I haven't asked.
I am based in Guangzhou, but I cannot answer if it is available at the moment. Here is the situation about flying, to the best of my knowledge.
Capitol is a small part of Hainan Airlines, and everything we do, we do in concert with Hainan. Sometimes we even fly with a Hainan callsign, or Lucky Air, another Hainan subsidiary. Capitol has big growth plans, which if they pan out, will mean new opportunities for flying at every base. If I told you what we do right now in CAN, by the time you got here, it will have changed, maybe several times over. So I don't think it is too important to be concerned about the current schedules, as they won't exist by the time you get here.
But, FWIW, expats in CAN now do only a couple of trips normally. A one day turn to Chongqing, leaving at 725 and arriving about 1300. 4.5-5 hours of pay. A 2 day trip to Kunming, departing 0735, arriving back to CAN about midnight the next day. 9.5-10 hours of pay. They just added a third day to that trip, with 4 legs that pays 8 hours in the middle. 18 hour 3 day trip. I hope that one becomes the norm. Do one of those a week, plus 1 Chongqing every other week, and you would have your 80 hours.
The one gotcha about CAN is the airport is a long way from the city. 35 km and a 105 rmb taxi ride. The taxi drivers here are Satanic. I just got my drivers license and will buy a small car soon. I don't think I would want to be based here without a car. Just my opinion.
I like Guangzhou. Again, my opinion only.

PROBEUSMC,
Thanks for the reply. I agree with you that the airport is too far from the city. I've flown in there many times. I do have a car and if hired there, will commute from Shenzhen as I do not want to move. So, looking at the high speed train to and fro with my car in-between. At least that is my current plan.
Where do most of the expats have crash-pads or apartments? I take it that they do not pick you up in a van and bring you to work..?
Thanks for the info; it all helps.
