Jobs In India
Any word about the condition of the Job market for expat pilots in india. B737NG B777 A330
It seems the the once feverish pace of hiring at Air Indian Express,
Jet Airways, and Spice Jet has fallen below the Radar screen.
Is that an indication of folks not caring anymore. Or Things are so disorganised as has been complained about that folks dont bother to write about it.
Any Intel?

Hey HP COCK
No need to be so synical. I was just enquiring about the action in India since last i was there. I actually accepted n NG Captain position back in Sept but had to defer it because of "family reasons' now i am just ready to regroup and go but wanted to check out the changes first.
I appreciate your input but your synisism is uncalled for.

Hi Guys ,
a lot of offers but
Here some hornest Infos after one Year working in India.
Rostering 6 days on 1 day off , but dont expect that you dont get disturbed on your day off. ( last day close to midnight , first day after off early morning )
Money on Time.
8 Weeks on 2 Weeks off , but now no travel days in front and after your block off anymore , so actualy 8 weeks on 12 to 11 days off.
80 Hours = 8700 US overtime 105 p H.
pick up and drop , Hotel ??????????????? , Appartment
Sim Checks , Medical on your own consideration and in your block off time of course.
Now the best = Tickets for your tavel block off , min 3 to 5 times to show up in SM Centre to get it few hours before your Travel , not on Jet then standby status.
Welcome in India.
DGCA works slower like escargots can walk , training ok.
Atc , i dont want to start otherwise this Letter will be TO LONG.
Some FOs are not allowed to take of and land the Acft. and experiences close to zero , but only close.
Base Mumbai , airborne polutant , streets , traffic etc = incredible and hazardous to health.
Many happy Landings and lot of Air under all your wings Gentleman.
Hope my english was not to bad.

India Jobs/condition
Good article in most recent Air Transport World about aviation in India. I have an interest because I am 60 in October and have to find a job somewhere that allows over age 60 flying which India and most of the rest of the world does now.
Article basically says the boom times in Indian aviation sector is taking a pause. Most domestic carriers are losing money and the growth has somewhat gotten out of hand. Fares aren't high enough for anyone to make money. Doesn't exactly give you a warm fuzzy about taking a contract over there. Still looks like opportunities exist to me but caution would be wise.

Jobs in India
It's based on need. If they need you then you will get a job in India as long as you meet their hour requirements. Once there is no longer a need you will be asked to leave. It's that simple. The only way you can stay on is if you happen to be an Indian national (Overseas Citizen of India) and convert your licenses to Indian ones. I would say that expat pilots will be needed in India for the next 5-7 years. By then all the Desi lads will have their ratings and hours.

The BIG BIG flight instructor shortage in USA and in Europe is not going to favor Indian students to get their ratings in 10 months and go back to India to fill those seats. The FO positions has already opened for expats and it will be open few years longer than the DGCA has expected.
Good Luck

Some Saudi's have started using this place in Canada. Canadian visas are easier to obtain than the USA visa. They have a program tailored to the DGCA in India. I have no idea what their reputation is. 10 months is possible, just do it before Winter sets in.... BRRRrrrrrrrrrr....

Hello Caliph,
I'm a flight instructor and the school I attended was a 4 year degree program (university). Don't recommend that if you just want to get your ratings and go back to India and convert. To be honest with you I don't know if Australia is a better option or not, I don't have any connection in that area to guide you. Why not ask people in this forum, or maybe Malaysia is a good option.
US is the land of Aviation and the Capital state of Aviation is Florida. There is no country that can produce that many pilots as US can do. But as I mentioned earlyer on my last post we are starting to see some changes, such as flight instructor shortage in US and the supply can not keep up with the demand. Regional Airlines are hiring pilots with 250tt, pretty much a Commercial +IR+Me add on. So, how want to instruct .
Spoke with American School of Aviation in California (King fisher airlines flight school) chief pilot few days ago and he mentioned that he has 100 indian students and several of these guys are on ground and don't get to fly due to lack of instructores.
I hope I don't miss lead you toward your career, but expect little bit longer than a year to get your ratings if you get here in US.
Good luck with your decision and if you need any help let me know

U.S. Problem
To Amin,
Are you advising people getting licence in Malaysia? The training fees to get Malaysia'a professional licence is minimum RM$190K (US$56). Do a search in this forum, you will know.
Look at this discussion thread -> http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=268071&page=2
After reading reading that thread, you will understand United States is still capable to get their instructors. Kindly do not spread rumours telling everbody that there is a shortage of FI in U.S.
I have lots of non-US citizen friends who are FAA CFI/CFII and/or MEI. The US flying schools are so terrified about employment issue in U.S. and U.S. flying schools are not opening doors to foreign FI. Frankly speaking, shortage of FI in US is none of the foreign FI concern.
If US really wants to have million dollars flight training to Indian Nationals at fast pace and flying schools are willing to provide work VISA, I can provide you with a bunch of FAA qualified FIs (the best part is, they are not muslims)!

a very cheap place that you can do it is Levelland Aviation. Its in west texas, in a small town with nothing to do but fly. Quite a few indians have gone there and the school can apply for visa for you. Its cheap and quick, no frills though.

thornycactus,
Appreciate your input.....so there is actually a shortage of FI due to US stingent policy.
Can you elaborate more on the situation of flying schools in US.
Any ideas or suggestion friends for the reply left by 'lekp' as follows ......
There are some schools which sounds good on papers and in reality they brings bad experience second to none; with terrifying situations attached to it. (Bankcruptcy, grounded aircrafts due to maintenance and so on...)

To FP_Ace,
I am helping out. If you don't like it, what can I do?
You are trapped in OZ. I suppose you do not travel and you are unware of the outside market.
There is nothing wrong with religion. All religions' preaching are good and I have not critised anything! Mind your words!
I am telling everybody that employers are choosy to applicants background/religion belief! It is a fact! You are not providing the true fact. Why are you yelling so much?
Religion plays an important role in aviation employment. You are unware and naviely thinks that employments are equal but in reality that is not the case.
Case 1
There are two applicants coming for Pakistan Airline A320 FO interview. One is a Pakistani Christian and the other is an Aussie Christian, with both equal hours and flying experince, who do you think the Airline would choose?
Case 2
There are two applicants coming for NW Airline A320 FO interview. One is a Pakistani non-Christian and the other is an Aussie Christian, both are US PR, having equal hours and flying experince, who do you think NWA will choose?

Just saw a copy of the AI NextGen contract.
What a joke. Are there any desperate enough to sign-on with NextGen? I think the AI contract through Rish is much better.
