AK6312,
Only 2 are offered Airbus slots you say. The 737s are being phased out. Do you think the other 8 are GUARANTEED Airbus slots? If that was the case, all of them would be trained for the Airbus slots.
But 10 Japanese pilots in AK doesn't make it "lot of job less local pilot on the street". AirAsia WILL employ the privates graduating from MFA. That is why there are no more AirAsia cadet intakes. 100 planes man, that's 1000 pilots. There are only nearly 300 pilots in AirAsia now. How many graduate from MFA every year? Do the math kid. And to my knowledge, the 4 already in AirAsia has more flying hours or had flying jobs before. Hardly the same "flight experience". The ones in MFA probably has hours too.

AK6312 dont you think an airline wants to choose the best pilots for there carrier? I can assure you as an ex-MFA student the pilots that come out of that brothel are not JET let alone PA28 able.
I beleive these Japanese already have 1000+ on singles and twins. I would assume that they have travelled the world and worked for small operators to get there time up before moving across to Air Asia.
DCA should NOT have the right to stop anyone working in this country. Thats the whole problem with MAS! The can't employ people that actually know how to run an airline because they are not malay.
Sad when you think about it...

I think you will find the Japanese pilots coming onboard are part of a little forward planning for things to come. Use ya noggin' a bit and you will find future expansion strategy in the nationality mix... been proven three times already

We are in an era called Globalization...i think the country can't keep out expats from coming in during a massive expansion period like the one AA is having. Thats the fact of life even countries like India and China are opening up..Maybe the DCA can come up with some local restrictions but don't think they can stop expats coming in.

RVR1600 like some other people here really like to get rumours going. I am still waiting for anyone to tell me that there are Japanese pilots in AK flying the Airbus or even training for the Airbus. Because they aren't any.
I hope you do go and make the report. I am sure you won't get anywhere because an airline is not your local mamak restaurant. They have an AOC and goodwill to protect wor.

The real deal!
All you conspiracy losers be advised that the Japanese will be joining the F50 fleet with FAX so dont worry about your precious A320 jobs. This is based on real evidence from AirAsia and the Japanese pilots themselves who I have met personally.
Get a real hobby, or maybe a girlfriend to relieve some of that washout pilot tension!!!
