Absolutely do not go for STAA. The school has a reputation in the industry for taking only those with ability to pay, even if the cadets can't fly. Of the 4 CAAS-approved schools, STAA has the lowest rate of graduates being able to find a flying job.

CAE / CTC would be a better option as they are known for training quality. Plus the AUD is cheaper now compared to USD.

Kopi

Oops looks like we missed it. You're right about trying to meet with more than 2. It's a challenge for us to get everybody together. Much like herding cats. 😂
The best bet is to arrange personally with 1. Then whoever can come along comes along. If not then next time. And the reason for meeting is to shoot the **** coz most of the up to date info is already on here haha. We are not averse to having beer instead of coffee either. We're pilots after all. Best time is office hours on weekdays coz outside of that is usually family time when we're not flying. 👍🏼

The good thing now is that updated information is everywhere on the internet, opportunity for cadetship isn't with 1 sole company anymore, and of course, 4 flying schools to choose from.

So even though this thread is alive, it sure isn't as active as it was in those days of yore lol
The decisions don't get any easier either 😜

Don't expect anything to happen with TR until 2017.

only thing I know is that both TR and MI have a combined order of close to 70 aircrafts, although some are for fleet renewal while some are for growth, due for delivery starting 2017.

not too sure if that's any good indication of their hiring status.

It is nice to see that Sonic69 is still actively contributing to this thread after so long. Can't imagine I last pm-ed him in 2009!

I'm still kicking around. See what's happening. I remember when I was looking for info and there wasn't anyone actually in the profession participating in the forum able to help or point me in the right direction. There were only voices telling me I couldn't do it. Well, we take motivation wherever we can find it. Maybe I made it just to prove those voices wrong 😁
I'm happy if I can be of some small assistance.

Took me two years too, to actually gather enough information to come to an informed decision. Those days there was really no one you could find to seek advice from if you don't know anyone or are new to this profession.

Sonic69, but the first time I met you I could tell you were bent on going for it already!

Fly safe guys.

Glad we took the route. Worth the stumble! It's all good, even Mcd is fine as long as we can agree on the day when everyone is free!
