DGCA ATPL Issuance

Hi All,

So I am close to applying for the DGCA ATPL.

I meet all the requirements except the past 6 months recency requirement and my IR has lapsed.

I have a DGCA CPL with these endorsements - B737 / P68 / C172

So for the past 6 months the requirement is 10 hrs PIC/ 20 hrs Co pilot. ( Does this have to be on a Multi engine or can it be done on a Single ?)

A friend of mine who is in the same boat had visited a officer in the DGCA regional office and he has said from the below excerpt that all 10 hrs are required to be done on a multi engine Aircraft.

(g) Skill— He shall have demonstrated his competency to perform by day and by night the procedures and manoeuvres prescribed in the syllabus to the satisfaction of the Examiner, on the type of multi-engine aeroplane to which the application for licence relates within a period of six months immediately preceding the date of application.

The Director General may, however, allow skill tests or part thereof to be carried out on aircraft/ approved Zero flight Time Training simulator level ‘D’ for the type of aircraft.

Note :— The holder of a current Commercial Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes)/Senior Commercial Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes) issued by the Director-General shall not be required to undergo general flying tests for the issue of Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes) provided that the licence is issued on the type or types of multi-engine aeroplane or aeroplanes, as the case may be, included in the aircraft rating of Commercial Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes) or Senior Commercial Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes) and the pilot possesses ten hours of flying experience as Pilot-in-Command or twenty hours as Co-pilot at least on one such multi-engine type within the preceding six months.

The excerpt above is from - DGCA Aircraft rules - Schedule 2 - Section M (Airline Transport Pilots License) (unable to post the link on the forum - apologies)

My understanding from the above is that this note applies to people who have the multi hours and do not need to do the Day/Night Skill tests.

So the question is can I just do the IR and the skill checks on the multi and to the rest of the hours on the Single ?

Also if i do apply the for the ATPl with the P68/C172 hours will the DGCA also endorse the B737 based on my CPL endorsement ?

If anyone has any experience with this and can give any clarity, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
