DGCA Written Exams Help
 

I am going to be sitting the DGCA written CPL exams in January and have been doing some self study. I am trying to find useful sources/books/websites to study for these exams as on the DGCA website they list about 15 books per subject.

The subjects are:
- Air Regulation
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Technical

Any advice on how to go about studying for these would be great!

u can do self study, but if you join a coaching class or something then it might be more beneficial as they have the updated question banks, and you will surround yourself with people like yourself; preparing for DGCA exams. And most of these coaching centre will not take more money to continue attending classes even if you are unsuccessful in your exam.

Yes I've done the exams. I did air regs through self-study and took classes for nav composite.

Which DGCA - Indonesia, India, Malaysia etc etc ??

Three. Green, may I ask when you did the exams? And how they were?

I'm just going to add here that you really don't need to go through any coaching classes. I've cleared all my exams by self study on the first attempt. You need to be fully dedicated and diligent in studying the subject matter. Make full use of all the resources available.

On the matter of books for Reg you just need RK Bali, but make sure you go through all the upto date rules on the DGCA website.
For met use IC Joshi. You might also want to do Q&As from Oxford's met book. Do keep in mind that the oxford book focuses more on European met.
For Nav use GSP and Oxford. Also Keith Williams for Q&As.
Tech might be the hardest subject to self study depending on your background. I used Oxford for tech and found Q&As online to practice from.

And the Oxford books you are talking about are the Blue books right? Which Edition?

For Reg I did questions from Bali and Oxford. Although not all chapters from Oxford are applicable for our syllabus. only go through the Oxford book if you're confident about the subject matter. Otherwise the syllabus being different might confuse you and have an adverse effect.

And yeah, I've the fourth edition of Oxford.

Let me quickly tell you how to study.
Disclaimer- Strictly to pass the Indian DGCA exam. You need to study a lot to be a good pilot

Air reg- Get the latest edition of RK Bali from amazon. Just mug up questions at the end of chapter + some questions at the end of the book. Learn all Annex

Met- Get IC joshi and read all the question at the end of the chapter, very easy to pass.

Nav- Keith William + Oxford, Stick to basics, one can easily score 70

Tech General- This takes atleast 15-20 days of preparation. Refer Oxford and Keith (Aircraft system General knowledge)
