Cathay B787 vs A350.

Hey Everyone,

I've been trying to find a reason on Google as to why Cathay chose the A350 over the 787. However with no luck, I've come here hoping for answers.

The fabulously compsensated elite genius managers who run our mob say the 787 is a "game changer". Guess what? It is too small and CX is not interested. The ones we are getting will have 36 Business class seats and 183 economy. No First class. This is how we are to compete across the Pacific with the likes of SQ, TG, NH, etc. :ugh:

I agree with the above post, but I don't think CX has completely shut the door on the possibility of 787-10s. It would be an excellent replacement for the A330s as a medium haul airplane to Oz, NZ, and the ME. It would also remove some risk from A350 delays and/or underperformance. Seeing as how it would be another type however, I doubt we will see it. The company would probably prefer to "intentionally mis-use" the long-haul A359/10s in this role. Time will tell...

Same endorsement on licence as 777 I believe. Will only be a couple of sims to operate it.

Jerk,

I did not believe the common type at first, but, after researching, you are correct. Training to the 787 should just include a differences course and a few sectors. I think that strongly improves the case for the -10, especially since it has very similar engines to the 747-8. It makes me wish Boeing had gone with more of a 777/787 cockpit in the -8.

as a 330/340 rated pilot its a easy answer simply A350 > B787 as is Airbus > Boeing
Oh, of course! Such exquisite simplicity - I don't know why I didn't see it sooner.
