I first applied to the cadet program in 2009 when it was open to all. Since then I've done all my training and become a flight instructor. I've been updating my profile and hours ever since. Back in Dec I applied to advanced entry and heard nothing until January. They sent me the HKCAD and I filled it out and sent copies of my license. Six weeks later and not a word...

Hi Everybody !

I have a question. For Transition Training, after the 5 week programme, does the company directly make you start as a F/O or a Second Officer ?

There is a big difference between F/O & S/O rates and payscales. I have already working for a flag carrier and just wondering the terms & conditions at Cathay.

2300 TT - B737

Thanx in advance.

I would like all of you to fully understand whom it is you are coming to work for. Terminations have begun again and this includes new S/Os. If you do not know what that means please read your history on this company.

Right now we are at that point in time again where it comes to a showdown. We are fighting for not only us but you as well and as long as you keep joining on the poor terms and conditions, we don't stand a chance, ever!

The housing allowance is poor so you might have to commute, guess what, you can be fired. It's already happened. Is this really what you envision in your careers. If you attempt to leave, after you figure this all out, you can be fired. If you call in sick, you can be fired. Do you know of the horrid pollution in Hong Kong.

There are 49ers here, and if you do not know that story then you should not be here, that say it's worse now than ever before.

Please do your research and use you brains before coming here.

Anyone been to an AE Stage 2 interview recently? The process seems to have changed a little bit with the order of things it seems.

I'm still deciding whether to do my CPL or not and it seems most of you's have over 500hrs to even get a call back... should I even bother getting my CPL and going through AE, or should I just go cadet?

P.S. I'm a Hong Kong Perm Resident studying in Canada atm

Some have gotten into AE with closer to 300 hours, it just depends on the individual. There's a reason why the minimum is only 250.

I know a few guys with HKIDs and PPLs who are now going through as a cadet. Competition for AE places is much higher so I would highly recommend putting in an application now and going through as a cadet if the opportunity is given. On the chance you don't get a call back, begin CPL training and keep updating the application as you go.

Anybody heard anything lately? Seems to have gone quiet.

I interviewed back in January in Auckland, got a request for more medical info about a month ago, and was only just invited to HK yesterday. Second interview supposed to take place in June.

kiwi_pilot_12 15th Apr 2016 02:01

I received some good news yesterday too. Been invited back for the final assessment in June. PM if possible DownUnderThunder - I tried PM'ing you but I am unable to.

Nicolaas900816 15th Apr 2016 10:12

I got an email yesterday saying my final interview is from 16-17 June.

A silly thing (if I understand it correctly from the email) is that you have to pay HKD 1770 for a HKCAD ICAO language proficiency test EVEN if you already are ICAO level 6? That's ridiculous!

Please tell me I'm missing something?

I tried but I don't have permission, probably because it's a new account. Are you by any chance Hamilton based?

kiwi_pilot_12 17th Apr 2016 21:40

No I'm not sorry. A bit further south than that :ok:

bwilly 1st May 2016 20:11

Havent heard a word since January when I was asked to fill out the HKCAD

kiwi_pilot_12 11th May 2016 19:57

Could anybody please shed a bit of light regarding the 747-400 simulator assessment? I have been emailed the profile etc, but it is quite limited in terms of detailing how much the PNF will/can do. For instance, will they call "Glideslope Alive", "Half Dot", "Reduce speed to 200 knots" etc.

Thanks

wantobe 11th May 2016 22:23

Feel free to PM me for any questions anyone has regarding AE interview process. I'll try my best to help.
