DGCA conversion - flying hours that are more than 5 years
 

For conversion will DGCA disregard all hours that are more than 5 years prior to application date?

As per the rule, for converting the licence, one must have flown 200 hours or more within 5 years preceding the date of application.

So Dgca disregards all flying hours before 5 years from date of application. For conversion. Has anybody gone through this predicament. Anyone care to comment

DGCA only disregards all flying hours before 5 years from the date of application for the process of conversion of CPL. Once you're issued the Indian CPL though, all your flying hours (even those before the preceeding 5 yrs) will count there on towards the ATPL and total time.

I went through the same situation. I had to clear my DGCA exams again and fly 200 hrs all over again. I had been to the DGCA to speak with the licensing officers personally to seek an exception to the rule as I had heard that they may consider on case to case basis but in vain. My only positive was to have my Indian RT with lifetime validity but had to do everything else like a new CPL aspirant.

.Just need some clarification on paper validity and flying hrs. I got my indian cpl(converted) in oct 2018 and i am planning to endorse instrument rating on multiengine.i gave composite and airlaw. I cleared it in november 2015. What will be the validity of papers and is it necessary that the flying hrs has to be within 5yrs.

Looks like there will be a revision to section j aircraft rules 1937. Anybody have anymore info like when aND what specifically is changing for conversion of foreign pilot licence to Indian pilot licence (CPL)

Yes, I've heard of the 5 years rules being amended. As far as I have heard though is that this rule has not been implemented yet and no news of when it will be. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.
I am assuming though that any applicant in this situation would still have to sit the DGCA conversion exams and do 15-20 hours of flight checks as laid down in the conversion flowchart.

Guys they have amended things. 5 years experience rule has been taken off. New circular on Dgca website.
