How many hours in total? 15 or 18?

Can anyone put it in a simple format for me? The conversion flow-chart is very confusing.

15 solo hours (PIC) which includes 5 hours by night (solo). 250 NM X-Country check,120 NM Night Check,Day Check,Night Check, IR Test , Morse Code (signal reception report) to be within past 6 months.

10 hrs day pic + 5 hrs night pic = 15 hrs pic
add to that 5 hrs of intrument flying which will take about 6 hrs of actual flying.

Minimum 21 hrs of flying reqd.

Day Chk, Night Check and IR chk, 250 nm and 120 nm can be included in pic.

You can do the 5 hrs of instrument time within the 15 hrs of PIC required

No you cant anymore. Sharan used to allow it earlier but not anymore. How can u fly under the hood as a pic when u dont have instrument rating..

I guess your case applies to those who learn to fly in India as you obtain the Instrument rating along with your CPL .

If already hold an Instrument rating on a foreign CPL and using it to fly the same country's registered aircraft then you can log it as PIC while under the hood

i did my training in canada..but did my recency in India. If you plan to do recency in India you have to do 21 hrs min. Ofcourse if u do it abroad whre u already have IR then u can log it in as PIC.

the whole solo take offs and landings in a twin means that you are in sole control of the a/c during the takeoff/landings. Does not mean the flight must be solo (impossible for most usa schools due to insurance)

This whole recency requirements by DGCA really needs to be looked at and in par with other ICAO states. For most other ICAO states the conversion is simple and can be done in maximum 2 months without this "recency" requirement.

The requirement of 5 hrs of Instrument Time can be done on simulator as well. This is a fact which is not so common amongst many. But I did the same when I got my recency done in Nov/Dec last year.

Since 1 hr Sim can be done in Rs. 1,000 whereas actual flying costs around 7,000. It saves time as well as money.

Are the CA-40B tests also required within 6 months?

Does this mean a CHECK RIDE? Or a CHECK OUT? A check ride being what most FAA trained pilots call flying with an FAA examiner to earn your Private, Inst, Comm, Multi, etc etc etc license, and a check out being you fly with any CFI certified on say a 172 and he/she makes sure you know your stuff and won't break the airplane, kill yourself, or anyone else.

If its the former, what the heck is the examiner going to do for 250 miles?! Just sit there? Make sure you can fly straight and level for 2.5 hours? Also why do they ask you to do a 120NM XC "returning to point of departure without landing". What sense does that make?

Also, what the difference between a Check, a Test, a Skills Test, and a Practical Test?

Hello everyone.. I had my FAA SE CPL & Multi add on rating... now i had flown multi in day time only.. now, i got to know about DGCA rule of having 3 hours in night.. if you want multi endorsement on your Indian CPL.. so it a rule??? Will anyone help me out of this.. Thanks in advance...

Where to do you do the signal interception report?

If you have a class 1 IR (Canadian) that is for multi engine and getting conversion is there any other requirement then 5 hrs of Instrument time in last 6 months ?

Hi hope everyone doing well

I would like to ask something about 6months recency flying ! I want to know in that 15 hours of flying is 2 x country flights and check flights included? if yes can I fly around 6 or 7 hours when IM going to renew my license from where I got cpl and let say approximately 5 hours for x country and 4 hours for day night and ir checks In India so it will be total 15 hours. will it be that ok or do we need 15 hours of pic before giving those checks flights
I’m getting confused about this when I called some flight schools some of them saying checks and everything included in 15 hours some of them saying not included
If any one know the exact procedure of converting after 6month recency lapsed or any flight school I can contact about it . I would really appreciate your help

Hi guys,I have a FAA CPL.I don’t have a valid US visa so wanted to do recency flying from Canada.Is it okay to do that?
