Hiring?
What's the latest outlook for F/O's?
|
Good if your a S/O! At this stage no DEFO until 2012...:D
|
just to clarify... No DESO...only cadet SO without housing allowance...and these days everyone is a cadet no matter how many hours you got...
|
Some rumors are going around that they will hire DEFOs soon. Apparently they can't lure enough people into doing the Cadet deal.
If they do actually plan on hiring DEFO in 2012, I would consider that soon. Just a year away ;o) |

I can't agree with this. I know tons of people who have put in CPP (not DESO) applications but have either been kicked out or side-lined in some way, even if they are willing to put up with the C-scale. |
000’s of applicants ≠ 000’s of suitable applicants. Don’t think for one minute there are 000’s of suitable applicants. There aren’t.

Lets put this rumer to rest.
We have received the Training Plan for 2011 and unfortunately there is no requirement for Direct Entry First Officers for next year. As always you are welcome to keep in regular contact for future updates. |

I think you will find that is for North America and Europe. The way CX has locked up the known basings vacancies in Australia from current CX pilots is an indication something is definitely afoot Down Under. |

A very good point and an issue that isn’t going to go away anytime soon. Currently Australian based crews are looking at paying 62%+ in income tax. A situation that isn’t sustainable and has the company very worried. Infact the whole mess has been taken out of CX’s hands with Swire trying to resolve the issue, so far with little success. |
And US-based crew? European crew? If I'm not mistaken, there are no double tax treaties between HK and most of these countries or vice-versa. Sixty-two percent for the Australians sounds about correct. In other words, being based, you will be liable for %16.5 (HK) + state income taxes, which undoubtedly will force many crew out of CX for local jobs. Add to that the job security that comes with real labour laws, union membership, state healthcare, etc., and you have ZERO reason to come to CX in any flying capacity.
With housing not an option going forward for new-joiners, I do believe CX have really outdone themselves here in a way they cannot comprehend yet. |
