just like an IQ test. you are looking at a series of pictures and/or numbers, theres a patten between them and u need to figure out what it is then choose the most likely outcome for the last picture

as capt787 said, its just finding the next pattern in the sequence of given shapes...for examples, qantas used to have an example booklet for their psychometric testing on their website, under recruitment, not sure if it's still on the site though?

all the best with your interview buddy...is it stage 1 for the cadet course?

For the reasoning test you have to be fast but try to stay accurate, be quick if you want to complete all of the questions. Is it better to answer them all with a few mistakes, or not answer all of them, and have no mistakes? I'm not sure...up to you to decide.

I think the discrepancies you guys have mentioned emerges from the fact that the selection stages vary a little between local candidates (or candidates interviewed in HK) and international candidates (candidates who have their initial interviews overseas).

I believe that if you make it through the entire selection process, by the end, the tests and interviews you would have gone through would be the same, regardless of which pool of candidates you are from.

Reasoning test is, as mentioned above - filling in the next shape. Numeracy test involves basic subtraction.

Hope this helps.

I have had a look at Quantas' booklet, which gave me a pretty good idea of what I'll have to do. I'm still a bit fuzzy about the numerical test though, as I only know that "Numeracy test involves basic subtraction". Could people that have already done this test give a bit more details? Are the exercises just a set of substractions like "25-16"? How difficult are them? How many of them in how much time?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

I have the same question as well evalf!
Can anyone who have done the "Numeracy test" pls kindly share your experience?

Million thanks!

The most difficult tests I find are the Spatial Reasonning ones. You know, with the boxes unfolded and you have to imagine them folded, etc....like on the Qantas file page 8. I hope there won't be any of those ?

Well, I remember mine having something, find the sequence or fill in the blank with images.
Something like, lets say you have a tic-tac-toe board of images and you have to find the last of the 9 images. First it starts easy. with like adding rows and columns. But later on it'll go on to mirror images and constant flipping.
Good luck.
Then again for all you know, the correct answer at the end of the exam isn't as important as the way you panic while trying to answer them.

one more exam added

For guys in Canada, my interview is on 19th and i just received a email said it's gonna be anyother technical exam added on that day. I have no problem with the exam but does that mean if we passed the stage 1 then we dont have to go to hong kong for stage 2?? since stage 2 is the technical part
