anyone?????

Jumbo744 16th Jul 2009 11:39

i got a call yesterday night at 11pm :-) I'll be there!! Flying from Montreal.

At first I thought it was some marketing company calling me, I almost hang up the phone when I heard ''calling from Cathay Pacific'' :-))

AQIS Boigu 16th Jul 2009 13:04

sorry guys...are we talking cadets or direct entry here???

A340x 16th Jul 2009 14:36

I got a call also for the CPP. But still didn't receive the email.
JUMBO744, did you also receive an email with all the details?

ILS32R 16th Jul 2009 15:11

Hey random question,

Did the call come from area code 925?

skyhighbird 16th Jul 2009 15:44

nope +852 (Hong kong).

never heard of 925

Jumbo744 16th Jul 2009 17:39

A340 check your PMs! I received the email this morning!
No phone number showed up on my phone! And we are talking about cadets!

GTC58 16th Jul 2009 18:47

AQIS Boigu:

The DESO program is being replaced by the new Cadet Program. The Cadet Program has a full course for applicants with no or little flight experience and a pre-qualified course for pilots with CPL or ATPL and this is a 2/3 shortened course. Advantage for CX is the cost savings of hiring cadets on local terms and Cadets have to serve min 36 months as SO, before JFO upgrade.
Apparently no shortage of applicants for the new program.

The DEFO program is shelved at the moment and might be opened again if CX is in need of qualified FO's in times of rapid growth. Might take a while as CX is around 250 pilots heavy at the moment, retirement Age 65 started this year (less retirements in the coming years), a huge pool of qualified SO's waiting for their JFO upgrade and CX is actively recruiting cadets for both programs.

birdonground 17th Jul 2009 00:12

Just curious, does anyone here with an interview not have a HKID? Are you guys really 'expats' looking to get into the cadet program?

Jumbo744 24th Jul 2009 00:06

i don't have an HKID. Never been to HKG in my life.

Macarto 24th Jul 2009 00:19

Hey, dont you guys need to be a PR at HK first in order to work for CX

Hi guys,

I will be attending the stage 1 assessment on Aug 21st 2009, from 11am - 2pm. Anyone else also attending that day?

Where are you guys and girls staying? Any idea what to expect specifically?

I understand there is an English test, reasoning test and an interview.

Jumbo744 28th Jul 2009 15:17

Jumbo744 13th Aug 2009 01:26

Hello mate,

no CX is not paying our tickets. I'm flying from Montreal with Westjet on the 18th and I will leave on the 20th in the evening....
Good Luck!!

Darian 13th Aug 2009 02:29

To laoyeoung

Did you apply with location wanted to be in USA? and when did u apply?

laoyeong 14th Aug 2009 01:26

i applied back in june/july i believe. Got call and email back mid july.
I don't quite remember but I don't think you can select which base you are applying for?
I think they just look at your address and determine that.

laoyeong 14th Aug 2009 02:04

interview consists of?

Hi,

what does the interview in vancouver consists of?
my email said english, reasoning, knowledge test and interview.
So it doesn't include aptitude test right, medical exam, and a presentation that i read in other threads right?

bobrun 14th Aug 2009 06:22

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the base for all cadet pilots will be Hong Kong for the first few years. You can only get a base once upgraded to FO.

Upgrade time to JFO will be around 3 to 3.5 years, and add another 6 months minimum before upgrading to FO, at which point you can go on a base (provided slots are available and you hold enough seniority to get one during a bid period).

A340x 15th Aug 2009 17:38

Hey. Does anyone know if we need to have our resumes (CV's) with us during the interview? Or is it only the mentioned materials in the email we have to have with us?

thank you

Jumbo744 15th Aug 2009 17:44

yes you need to bring a copy of your resume

A340x 15th Aug 2009 18:29

Thanks for the reply!
And for the logbooks mentioned, do we also have to bring our PTR's (Pilot Training record) from the flight school? If you have previous flight experience.

And lastly, for education qualifications, does this mean we have to bring the diploma or the transcript with all the grades?

Thanks!

Jumbo744 17th Aug 2009 20:12

A340x

Hi!

I don't think you should bring your PTR, just bring your logbook with copies, and make sure your school stamp it. And yes, you need to bring your diplomas and transcripts...

birdonground 20th Aug 2009 03:04

I just finished my interview today, took me 4 hours and it was definitely not easy....

who's going for a drink?

we should meet and exchange e-mails

cheers, PM me if anyone is interested

wskwong 20th Aug 2009 04:07

Was it taken place at the YVR airport? Did they setup some sort of aptitude/computer tests like they did in hK?

You were interviewed by someone from HK perhaps? or someone local working for Cathay?
