Reference material / general advice
 
I appreciate that this has been covered to death before, using advice via the search function, I have gone ahead and purchased the following recommended books.

1. Climatology for airline pilots
2. Mechanics of flight
3. Captain x y z
4. Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators

I already have HTBJ and ace, but is there anything else I can think about looking to get my hands on in the future?

I think I have more than enough material to keep me busy for quite some time :)

Im not in a position to apply for CX yet, Im currently flying the 737 in Europe but plan to start preparation for any possible future interview well in advance.

My fiancee is currently cabin crew with Cathay and we intend to move out to HK together in the future.

Hopefully the hard work will pay off and eventually I will be enjoying the sights and sounds of CX city and the Headland :}

Thanks guys and gals.

I´m a long way from applying for CX and will not do so until I have the hours and feel well prepared. I appreciate it can be a long wait for an interview, but I would not want to mess up any potential interview due to rushing to apply.

Know your aircraft well,as in know it back to front(and not just for CX's sake)

all well and good but DO NOT WAIT get your application in NOW and then send in regular updates as they like to see that you have been interested in CX from the outset. You will get a PRN (Personal reference number) and can then update your hours etc online. they won't call you for interview till you have the required experience so don't worry and if you are not ready and they call you it will not in any way reflect badly if you tell them exactly that

I second what was said about 'Getting to Grips with Aircraft Performance' Found that very useful and covered a couple of my final interview questions. I found 'Airframes, Engines and Systems for the Professional pilot (Airlife)' useful and gives a good overview.

Thanks for all the advice.

My career is still in its infancy (new to type, low hours etc) but I take onboard what you say about showing interest early on.

I have plenty of material to read and improve my knowledge and with each block hour I am learning something new about the 737, its a great learning curve.

I've flown 90 hours this month and am enjoying a rare quick break at home with my family.
