Application tips

Having just written my ATPL's I finally meet the application mins for DESO and before I sent it off I was hoping for some advice on the written portions of the application. Is it possible to include a CV and cover letter? Would you still mail/fax a package with photocopies of license, medical and passport? Are any of the following particularly important to emphasize? Anything they don't like to see on an application?

-Previously lived in both HK and Thailand
-2 crew multi-turbine experience (King airs)
-university education
-arctic/northern flying experience incl gravel
-high density IFR in YVR and YYC
-sched passenger service/medevac/charters
-Young/Single
-Should I mention ATPL written marks? (94%)
-Instructing experience both a/c, sim and classroom.

Have people been hired directly off King Airs from Canada or should I be trying to get on something larger eg 1900D or ATR 42 type aircraft?? Would PIC time be considered more valuable than larger aircraft time?

Now that the application is online can you update too much??

Thanks in advance!!!

Disclaimer.. this post is of marginal value and I can't answer your questions with any degree of authority.. that said..here comes the wisecrack...

Calgary is High Density? You gotta get out more! :p

Now that I have that off my chest I would bet that most of that would come out in the first interview and might not need to clutter the application. I guess it would depend on how selective they are in their DESO interviewing.

Good luck!

Hey guys, :ok:

Just a question to get your thoughts about the application for the cpp regarding minimum requirements.

i didnt do maths or physics in my final years at high school.
plus i didn't finish university so no degree to cover no physics/maths. everything else is satisfied (height, HKID etc).

I do however have a cpl and multi-engine endorsement with about 270 hrs total time...and expecting my instrument rating in a month or so...i hope!! i couldn't stand being stuck in a classroom so i decided to do flying full-time instead.

After talking to personnel at CX and explaining my situation, i was told to just fill out the on-line application best i could with whatever subjects i had done and send. Then, the intial screening process would inform me if i would be given a shot at interviews

Wondering if CX will still consider me even though i didn't do physics or math in high school. So finally, my question is: Will my flying background prove to them that i'm dedicated to flying and that i will be able to handle the theory/math side of flying?

Chili-

What flying background are you referring to? It doesn't sound like you have one. If they told you to fill out the app, then there you go. Sounds like they might like you in spite of having almost no experience.

juz send an application, a frd of mine has a similar situation as you:
he doesnt have math/phy in HS, undergrad in US, he completed the online application and got invited to initial interview (this summer i guess)
but i rather finish my degree.:hmm:
