future of colour deficient pilot

What are the chances of a COlour deficient pilot getting hire by an airline?Especially the airlines in HONg kong?
I know that HK CAD accepts the result from FAA airfield signal LIght gun test, but will employer such as CX & KA consider applicants who r only able to pass the medical with a alternative colour vision test?

Appreciate any help!! thanks you VERY much

As far as I know Cathay doesnt actually have a policy on colour blindness - ie. they won't reject you outright- so you might be able to get an interview and come here and do a medical.
The Hong Kong CAD will essentially accept you if CX does.

What you should do is contact Dr Robert Cox at Cathay City. A phone call or email to him will clear up lots of things for you. He is very knowledgable about these things and also the man with the final say - if he can ok your condition then recruitment probably will accept your application.
Suggest you call CX in Hong Kong and ask for his office - if he is not available at least they should give you his email adress and you can contact him.:ok:

I'm not quite sure how fussy they are today, but a few years back someone was turned down because he could not see a certain green I think it was. Hopefully they have changed.

I am slightly red-green deficient. This has not been an issue for me since I passed the colour lantern test years ago.

I spoke with Doctor Cox about this and one other medical concern during my second interview. He was excellent, and quite instrumental in getting me hired.

Good luck.

Give Dr. Frank O'Tremba a call. Best to speak to him personally to explain your case and your questions as he will answer them immediately.

Ph. +852 2369 3329.

Just be aware that he is busy throughout the day doing pilot medicals, but keep trying him.
