Second Officer Age Maximum

I am 41 years of age with about 6000 hours, mostly multi and more than half turbine.

I visited Hong Kong a while back and had a chat with recruitment whilst there and was told that over the age of 37 my application " would never get pulled ".

Given that most people ( even those who haven't updated for ages ) are getting e-mails and phone calls for interviews, does anyone in the know-know if Cathay are sticking to their age maximums or might they consider softening that requirement in the time to come.

Thanks for any input.

Give Recruiting a call and ask (dont email....phone!)
Its the only way you'll get a bone fide answer.

We have definitely recruited SOs approaching 40yrs within the last 3yrs.

I dont believe there is a hard ceiling...so pick up the phone; your timing could be just right.

Thanks for that Petitfromage. I was rather hoping the time might be right for that dreaded phone call.

404 Titan, where are you when I need you?

Why are you sure they are only looking at you for S/O? I got called for a DEFO interview (had to turn it down), and I'm 41...

I'm 40; was recruited this year (age 39) and I start next month DESO 747 in HK. I pushed and pushed and made it (waited 3 years on CX books.) Your age is not that material, in my opinion.

Thanks old boys for the encouragement.

I guess I just took Cathay at their word and thought it was non-negotiable.

I'm encouraged to make regular approaches. Really appreciate your replies.

It doesn't matter how old you are.
When you get here they make you feel like your about 10.

It doesn't matter how old you are as long as you're white.

Airbus2Boeing ,
or more like airbus to nowhere
''It doesn't matter how old you are as long as you're white''

Someone obviously in need to get out a bit more and learn to stop playing the racist card in order to make up for their own shortfalls.
Grow up.
