Combining required experience for DE F/O
 

Can anyone tell me if Cathay would look favourably on a mixture of heavy truboprop command and jet co-pilot experience totalling more than 1000 hours combined, in application for a direct entry F/O position on the freighters? Would a total time of 7000+ hrs help in this case? Thank you for any input.

My experience is that the folks in recruiting are happy to take a look at your background and offer you a position commensurate with your experience. However whether you decide to take it is another story. DEFO vs DESO in my opinion is a matter of lifestyle vs ego. I was offered both but chose SO, and have not regretted it at all. HK is not as bad as the naysayers would make out and the SO lifestyle is good/great!! Assuming you can handle 20 ish days off per month that is.
