Rules of Hong Kong

A couple of questions about Hong Kong flying.

What governing body controls HKG flying? (i.e. FAA in US, JAA in EU, etc.)

Total allowable flying per day/week/month/year?

Is there a mandatory retirement like in the US? (Currently age 60)

Since regardless of where you are based with CX, you get paid in HKG dollars, then converted into local currency. My question is that, until recently, the Chinese Yuan was slaved to the US dollar. Is the HKG dollar in any way slaved to the Yuan, the US dollar, the British Pound, or any other currency? Or is it simply free floating and driven by the market?

Thanks - Pilottodd2, CX wannabe

Okay, I could be totally wrong but i'll try to answer these ones..

1: Flying is regulated by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department.

2: Allowable time? (i don't know this one, I would only guess that its 100 hours per month ? )

3: CX retirement is at 55 in the PAX fleet. Dragon Air is at 60.

4: Hong Kong Dollar is pegged to the USD at ~ HKD$7.8 = USD$1. The Hong Kong Monetery Authority tries to keep it at that rate. But there is no absolute guarantee that it will stay at that rate forever.

Thanks for the info.

If you have to retire at 55 in the PAX fleet, what about the Cargo fleet?

What do most people do after 55? Kick back and enjoy the good life, or continue to fly somewhere else?

Thanks

I guess it really depends on the them, some love flying and so join another airline and some love to enjoy their good lives.

Not sure, but roughly around 85 hours monthly. ;)
