Cathay Interview Dress Code
 

Hey guys!

Got an invite for the 1st Cathay Pacific S/O Interview on May 5th, it is scheduled to take place in NYC on July 1st. I read all your posts - thanks for the great input. My question is this - does anybody know if Cathay have any unwritten preferences about what you wear at the Interview? Naturally, it has to be a suit and a tie, shiny shoes - the works, but what colors? I remember years ago in the good old days of Delta Airlines hiring I read somewhere that uless your suit was Blue, your shirt White and your tie Red, they didn't even take you as a serious contender.

Any advice in that area? Just want everything to be perfect on the Big Day. Thanks in advance, guys.

Hey, I just read your post and I also have an interview July 1. My name is Aaron, and Ill see you up in NYC in July. I only own one suit besides my uniform and that is the one I will wear! Hey call if you want in USA 1-704-293-5167

Thanks for the tip! I don't even have a suit yet, I guess I will go for a green one then. It probubly can't hurt things if you wear company colors.

Buy a new white shirt with french cuff, simple black cuff links, HKG is a very dressy place every one is very smartly truned up at all time, CX expects the same of every one. They are big on grooming.:ok:

Hey there, good luck on your first ineterview. I did mine in NY back in April 2004.

In regards to your question, Silver gave some good advise. The main thing is that you want to look profesional, and I believe, you need to get a really nice siut to do that.

I went all out and bought a really nice Hugo Boss siut, very professional, but not too stiff. And it also really fit my age. I did wear slip shoes, but again, they were a really nice pair and looked really good with the siut. I wore a red tie with blue shirt for the interview, and also bought a less formal blue tie to wear at the coktail party.

I came from the regionals, so my income was very limited. But this is the type of interview which you want to look the part, and definetely don't want to look cheap.

As previously stated, make sure you are well groomed too (hair, fingernails, etc.). European companies pay real close attention to that. Nothing more embarrasing than shaking someones hand, and seeing that their fingernails are really long, or all dirty.

Listen to SQ7700; did the same, but had it in stock for regular use, wear something that suits you with in guidelines, wear a nice suit, wallstreet like atire, but get a suit that is comfy, you will need the comfy factor.

don't fall out of role too much outside of the interview, walls have eyes and ears, in a figure off speach, the people that do your interview etc will roam the CX City as well.

If you are on a tight budget, you don’t need to buy a suit. I rented a very nice one for both interviews. Total cost was less than a quarter the cost of buying one. When I got the job, I had a very nice suit made in Shenzhen for about AUD$80.00. The same suit in Australia would retail for about AUD$800.00.

Just my point Silberfuchs you have to get comfortable in what you wear.... dis-comfort shows BIG TIME so what you said is not to bad, i would rather go out to a coffee shop and have a coffee and news paper instead of wearing it around the house though. That's a bit on the .. funny side... :p
