Just for info only,

I only paid $25 for my tall latte from Starbucks today.

Cheers

Dear left wing,

thanks for the very interesting post!!

:ok:

Koyo 12th Mar 2005 00:47

Forget about owning a car in HK, it's just too expensive. Tax, parking, tunnel fees, petro are going to bury you. Same it for your kids going to international school since it's extremely expensive.

I still can't believe a litre of Tropicana apple juice costed twice as much as a 2 litre in Vancouver, Canada. And it was nasty tasting.

BBN RADAR 12th Mar 2005 07:08

"45 HK$ for heineken"??!

That's why one should go to 7-11 and get two cans for HK$16!! (= US$2)

just like tamalai said:

It all depends where you shop.

;)

Can't wait for the sevens.

Thanks for the info... it is greatly appreciated. Most of that stuff is cheaper than I thought/heard it'd be. Good news. Fuel could be cheaper though, FAAAARRRK. 2USD/L!!! And they've been complaining in the US!

Dunno, how long it took you... but I'll be the first to say thanks!

OK Chaps, Let's keep It Clean!

I've deleted a couple of posts that dealt with the 'price of pleasure'! I do appreciate that this does fall under the cost of living but we have a mixed clientèle here on PPRuNe so, if you don't mind, we will leave the prices charged at the knocking shops out of it! :ok:

Thanks, BE.

'price of pleasure' depends where you shop!:E

IMO these prices are at the very top end in pretty much every case.

For example, my electricity bill has only once every been over HK$1000 in a month, and averages about $500.
I have a 6MB broadband connection plus broadband TV including ESPN/Star, BBC World, HBO and 6 free channels for HK$294.
I was drinking capirinhias in LKF the other night for $55, and I know where to get bottles of beer and house spirits for $21 a time within 100m of LKF. I live in the mid-levels and the local restaurant over the road will serve you a three course dinner including a coffee for HK$45 - it ain't haute cuisine, but it's filling.

GlueBall 4th Apr 2005 15:50

Two bedroom modern apartment (950sf), Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, from HK$ 26,000/mo (USD 3,337)! :{

Kevin Ho 16th Apr 2005 11:25

Yes, that's the way people live in Hong Kong, I'd say 80% of lifestyle is different to those in other english-speaking places. ;)

christep 16th Apr 2005 18:00

GlueBall,

Either you are in a very prestigious development or someone saw you coming. I have a 1300 sq.ft apartment in one of the better developments on Robinson Road (Mid-levels) for HK$20,500.
