CX/KA Cadet Programmes' Opinions of Americans

I'm applying to both the CX and KA cadet programmes and worried that these airlines will not look favorably upon the fact that I'm American. My mother is HK-born and therefore, I am getting residency through her, but some people have told me that being an American will hurt my chances of getting into the cadet programme. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you.

Although I am not a Cadet Candidate, I think I have a valid point.
I would encourage you to put your best foot forward, regardless if the odds are stacked against you. It doesn't matter your place of birth, age or what you believe in. Give them the opportunity to see the best candidate they can- YOU. After you will have given your all, it won't matter if you won or lost... you gave everything.
Having said that, I think the folks in recruiting are looking for the best candidate. Would you want to work for an airline who would choose you based on your passport rather than your potential anyway?
Godspeed, and best of luck.:ok:

Where you or your parents were originally from does not matter.

Who told you being an American is a disadvantage anyway?
