ICAC launching an investigation in the cadet pilot selection programme?

According to a reliable information source, the Independent Commision Against Corruption 'ICAC' - the anti corruption department in Hong Kong, is launching an investigation after some complains of the cadet pilot selection programme.

can you provide details on the story?

Well, if this story had a grain of truth in it, (which I doubt), such an investigation might well be the product of the extremely rich parents of potential cadets who failed? (that would be 'some complaints')?

Interesting. I can't really see how CX management is willing to be bought out for a cadet. However, anything is possible. If indeed this rumor turn out to be true, CX better start house cleaning otherwise the liabilities from a crash due to a under qualfied pilot would be insanely huge (counting the punitive damages of course).

Still I can't really see this happen since the selection process should be a panel decision and not made by a sole person. Even if the cadet manage to be buy his/her way into the flight training portion, he or she will most likely be washed out anyway by the flight instructors.

ICAC and CX

Hi all,

Yes, I have to agree with Koyo. The airline industry is a very regulated indutry which pilots involves various testings every six months and recurrent trainings. I cannot see bribery have a place in any CX's departments nor anyone.

OK I just check the ICAC website and there's nothing about Cathay Pacific. So either this is just some idiot journalist blowing smoke or someone on the inside leaked the news. I also check a few HK newspaper website and none of them report any ICAC probe into CX. But they are running stories about engine parts dropping off CX 777.

I reckon it is very hard to pay your way through the entire programme, don't forget you got someone over in Australia loooking after the cadets as well.....kind of sound impossible, so Mr. V1, i think you gotta give us more info.
