First Applied in 2000

Hello,

I first applied to CX in mid 2000 for a DE F/O position on the Cargo fleet, and still no reply.

I have a total of 4500Hrs mainly on A300.

During a layover I olso once visited them in HKG to ask when they will recruit again and to tell them that I am very motivated to join the team.

Still I have no either Negatif or positif answer wich is very sad for me as I realy want to be part of that great Airline.

I wonder if they are not welling to recruit a french guy?? As I think that most probably 90% of the pilots are US or from AUS.

I can not see any other reason.

Any onelse in the same situation???????

Appreciated any comments,

Thank you and wish you all many happy LNDGS!!!! :)

I think you will find that your experience is not unusual, judging by what I read in this forum. If the emphasis at the moment is on, for example, SO and cadet entrants then it is possible they have a temporary 'hold' on DE FO for the freighter? That is just my guess by the way.
What you will discover when you read through this forum is that persistence is what seems to count, so I suggest you use the various email addresses and 'phone numbers that have been quoted from time to time and start pushing yourself a bit more, start with an update and refer to you previous application.
As long as your licence is one that can be converted to a Hong Kong licence I don't think your nationality will be a factor.

Best of luck.

Cronyism...?

Does knowing someone in CX help with obtaining an interview, this is another airline in which I do not know anyone and I wonder whether I will get an interview, BTW I have had an application in for six months and I have 2300TT 800ME all on piston charter.

It can sometimes help you get an interview if you know someone in the company but it won't help you get the job. You will have to do that yourself on your own merits. I have included a quote from another thread that I wrote a few weeks ago.

The squeaky door gets the oil. If you want to be noticed in the crowd, which at last count was more than 20000, you have to show that you are really keen. An update once every six months won’t do it, even though this is what they say you should do. I suggest you update once every month or two and maybe ring recruitment every month to see how your application file is sitting. If you have a friend in CX, get them to put a good word in for you. All this will make you stand out from the crowd.
Hope this helps.

Thanks 404,

I don't need anyone to GET me the job. I back myself as a good chance, it is indeed however the interview that I need, I will have to step up the applications as you suggest. Thank you for the advice.

Hi guys!!

I have had an appl. in since early 2000 aswell.... Gues I have to get on their nerves a bit more too!! Gonna start updating more often... I have one little problem though...I have lost my update form..The one with a pnr and all that. I have my pnr, but is it ok to just send any update or does it need to be the actual form?? Any info appreciated!!

Good luck to all!!!

Hello,

You can send them a new CV and they will probably send you back a new personal form. Not a big deal I guess.
Last month I get a new Application Form asking me to send it back, and thanks me for my patience !

Well in fact I not patient anymaore !!!! :)

DON’T send in a new application. This will only confuse things in recruitment. It will generate two files for you, which will result in someone having to waste their time fixing your file up. Give recruitment a call and ask for a replacement update form. Once you have it, photocopy it a number of times and keep the original in a safe place. Use the copies then to send Cathay an update of your details.

You see guys I have a friend who sended 25 CV to Cargolux.
I think the person who check our CV's are not very smart cause that particular friend of mine get 20 negatif replies + one invitation.
Finally I get the job and fly for them since olmost a year.(well done Felix!!!!)

but 404, confusing recruitment is probably the only way to get your application noticed!! :E
