Yes, CX is now conducting interview for Cadet Pilot, FO and SO. You can get more information from the below link.

CX require 1000 total time, ATPL theory passed and MECIR. You need to send them a personal CV to Recruitment and they will asses it as wether or not it is competitive. If it is they will send you an application booklet with your own Reference number. (ie not a form you can just print off the internet).

Fill it in and send off. 4-8 weeks latter get a reply as to wether or not you have been placed in the hold file for 'Consideration'.
You also get given an update form to send after ie 6 months.

This is the process stage I am up to. Things may of changed however.

All though they state you need 1000 hours, be warned the average hours are more like 2000-3000 hours.:ok:

flyingkiwi 30th Dec 2003 18:21

Sounds fine, I sent my first letter to CX when i had 200Hrs TT 0 multi, didnt get hired till 3000TT 2000Multi 1000 twin Turbine of which 300 were command.

get your applications in there and just keep updating, gotta be in to win. They keep your letters and when it comes interview time it shows your were keen from a long (or short) time ago

Preluder 30th Dec 2003 23:05

hey flyingkiwi
I'd like to know what did you do from 200TT to 3000TT ? and how long did it take?
thanks

Flyingkiwi,
I was under the impression that the Hong Kong privacy laws that prohibit Cx from keeping copies your cv's would also mean that they could not keep letters of interest from wannabes.
Can you comfirm that they do keep correspondence or are the laws realitively new???

Cheers

Thanks FK,

will do that, hope I have a chance. There has been a lot said about FAA vs JAA licenses. I have both, any advantages you think? What is the best way to stand out of the crowd?

Minimum requirement of CX Cadet Pilot Prog.

Please refer to the following link, in short, just a recognized U degree and good eyesight (ok if glasses weared) is enough for minimum requirement:

Hi

Ok a few questions to be answered.

What did i do betreen 200 and 3000 hrs, well like most Kiwis i sweated blood and tears, the first 1000hrs were prety much all instructing in singles, I then recieved my multiengine and B cat instructor ratings, I did some multi instructing then night freight twin operations, getting into the commuters with 2000tt and 900 multi. The rest of the time was blasting around in Bandits both as co pilot and as captain. Sounds easy looking back now but from 200tt till CX was about 8 years.

I dont know about the privicy laws or cx policy but it cant hurt to show your enthusasim. Your timing may be like mine and the update turnup on the day they start phoning for interviews. It happened to me ...honest!!

FAA vs JAA.. JAA wins hands down, the HKCAD view the FAA licence with suspicion or contempt. There licence was based on the old UK one. If you have to forward your licence details use the JAA one, it may save a lot of grief later on.Sounds like we are ordering a whole bunch of Boeings so get your updates in!!

Good luck
FK

FK - Captain-ing the HKG-YYZ run?

Hey FK,

Just wondering (and this may sound really random), but do you Captain/FO the Hong Kong - Toronto (direct) run? I think the flight was something like CX 828, but I was sleepy (and hung over).

Thanks!
Dimsum

flyingkiwi 11th Jan 2004 10:38

I wish I was a Cpt or F/O, just a S/O. i do the YYZ flights sometimes but not in the last 12 months. 15 hrs is a long time..

I was 26 when accepted.
