CX vs KA
I'm not sure if this better belongs in Terms of Endearment, but since they're both HK-based airlines, I thought I'd put it here.
I keep hearing that KA contracts are better than CX contracts, but I can't find much on the "fluff" - the stuff that makes the difference other than the money.
The problem I have is that I am in the interview for both airlines' Cadet programmes, and while I think I would prefer long-haul, I don't want to diddle myself out of a better deal (yes, I have read a lot of posts on here, and I am aware that many think whatever deal is offered isn't worth taking. Allow me the freedom to consider otherwise). Problem is, I might wind up getting a KA offer first.
What are the differences, besides pay, in each of the airlines' offers? Of course, the simple answer is to look at both contracts against each other, but I might not have that luxury.
I'd really value opinions from those with experience on the matter. What is it that makes you guys think a KA contract is better than CX? Would anyone disagree, and why?

If patience is not in your dictionary, go with KA. You'll get a lot f chance to fly, really fly. But if you're doing it just for the name, the route, the fleet whatever it is..and if you're Okay to be a baby sitter for 3,4 years or so, then go with Cathay. Simple is that. I would rather focus on the operation side than the benefit or money side. It's much easier for me to narrow it down. Strange isn't it.

Unfortunately I've just received an email stating that I did not make it through Stage 1B of CX's application process. I am looking to other ways of entering the aviation industry as it is my goal and dream, and right now I am looking in to possibly KA.
My question is, should I try and study harder and reapply to CX in a year's time? Or should I now turn my focus to other places like KA? Or even HK's GFS but I read on their website they are not recruiting. I was all set on going with CX, and put all my focus into working hard and studying for it.

You should take advantage of any opportunities you have. Try and get a few flying lessons if you haven't flown before. Apply for Dragonair. Continue your technical study in aviation. If Dragonair also rejects you, you can reapply to CX in a year, and by doing all those things above, you will demonstrate to them commitment to aviation.

Cheer up, many opportunities ahead
i would suggest u try to find out what went wrong in CX 1b and what do you lack, then improve yrself before seeking for another opportunity
