Nah. They're not gonna charge you for an application fee nor ask you to pay for the training. Don't worry. It's the other thing. Sorry! this is how far how i can go. I'm not trying to encourage or discourage anyone, but it is just the whole "new data base" thing reminds me of another story. And by the way, I didn't make this up. It is the guy who hires and fires people told me. So you can choose what to believe.

So you guys don't get it do you: the 4th floor have realized there are suckers out there who will pay [up to US$200k] for their license/rating/ATPL.
i.e if you want to hire a car driver, why must the Co. pay for his lic.?

Well, with the ex-cadets not receiving any housing allowance and other benefits and signing a contract to work for the company for six years, isn't this the same as saying, they are paying for the training?
As far as I know, Cathay is saving a lot of money already by training its local cadets. But I wonder if requiring the cadets to pay for the training, like what Qantas has been doing, would help filtering those that are not so serious about the program in the initial selection process and make those that are in the program to work harder, making it more efficient?

The difference between the Qatar and the City State South of HK schemes compared to CX is that once you finish training you go straight to a RHS position on full FO pay once released to line. I'm pretty sure the Qatar guys get full expat benefits also.
CX cant possibly make you pay 100K to sit on the jump seat for 4-5 years and expect to get many quality applicants. They will get takers but of what calibre? How absolutely desperate would they be to take the deal? The only reason they get local applicants now is because you don't have to pay up front.
You certainly wont get any foreigners who already have a licence and 250 hours to pay again for a job surely?

Considering the droves that signup to Lion air and the likes it unfortunately would not surprise me.
Although reading the Qatar thread they had to merge two mpl classes into one due to a lack of "suitable"(rich) candidates

Do you mean they had so many bomb out during training that they had to merge the classes or they just couldn't fill two classes worth of students? Either way that is some funny you know what!
As a side note I thought CX allowed non ID card access to the AE and AB courses simply through a lack of suitable applicants in HK? When I say lack of suitable I mean in numbers not aptitude.

I have also been given the September start date and want me, and 3 others to be inducted in Qatar over the next few weeks.
The reason for the delay is that they do not have enough people to fill the August course (according to CTC) so will be looking to fill the Sep with these cadets.

In all seriousness i am one of the few fortunate candidates who have willing parents to put a house on the line. Personally i don't feel comfortable with it and dont want to be 'another one of those cadets' that completely takes advantage of their parents.
