Hi guys, my son wants to join the Indigo cadet programme. He is a canadian citizen and lives in canada. He was attracted by the job offer which Ingigo promises after one clears the CPL. Is it worth join this program or do an ATPL in canada? which is better and worth in the long run? can anybody give some advise it will be very useful for me. Thanks for the responses guys

hey hey, i researched a bit about this too. apparently, the overall average costs of the Indigo cadet training program lands around 90 lacs, or 140,000 USD. That's including all costs and everything. and the job isn't guaranteed after the program. One of close friend had done this program and went 2 years looking for employment. They put you in the holder pool and employ according to their needs. Honestly, if you can pay that much money, you can go for it, but look for other Programs or Alternatives if possible.

BTW, it does not cost $72,000 USD to get a commercial in USA; you can easily do it in $40k to $50k with multi & CFI... For that much money, you can have your ATPL with hundreds of hrs on a multi engine & go to any corporate or cargo operator.

Urgent

Came across a girl who was actually enrolled in indigo Cadet program and she told me she has done 100 hrs flying , but yet to fly solo
Should this be a concern for aspiring pilots who are about to join this cadet program

Hmm interesting...cause I'm in FTA and the Indigo cadets arrived several weeks ago and they said that they are guaranteed the job...

Job is almost guaranteed

I have spoken to CAE officials and seen Pilot reviews on quora and I can say that the job is 99.9% guaranteed. Since the induction rate is around 95% and the reasons for 5% not getting through is financial issues, health grounds, alcoholic etc.
And Indigo had also provided Ground Job to a guy who couldn't complete due to medical reasons for helping him pay away his loans.
Spending around 90lakhs with everything given on the dinner table is worth it. Now people are speaking about not clearing Tests, Sims etc. That is their problem. If you're dedicated I don't think it is rocket science to complete the course.
I have contacts sitting at home after getting hours from reputed academies FROM US. One of them who did from Arizona had to wait 6 years to land in Jet Airways. So a good start will remove all the troubles for a career in this industry.
Anyways you get to fly a lot of hours with indigo which also helps you in faster promotions and by the end of your 5 year bond period you're good to go to any airlines in gulf or south Asia with ample hours.
The money is slightly less as compared to what other airlines get. But it's Better than being in a lot of 10,000 unemployed chaps.
For The finance if you have a reliable collateral and a decent salary at home you can take up a loan in which you start paying after 6 months of starting a job. So you can finish the loan within 10 years or maybe earlier with Parental Assistance.
This is a crucial time to get a job if you want to be a pilot as most of the aircraft's will.be delivered by 2022-24 and after that there will be a period of slump in the industry.
Indigo's partners CAE, CTC AND FTA are the best in the world so you won't need to worry about your future proficiency.
So think and decide.

Not the poster, but no it is not worth it. You're paying twice as much to have a guarantee of a job. If you're not incompetent you'll get hired at the first airline you interview at no matter where u do your flying, the people who complain about being unemployed for a long time are those who don't have the study ethic to study for the exams and to learn new things.

Unless your parents can afford to pay that amount without a loan, taking a loan for the program is a horrible idea since the interest alone will equal a good chunk of your salary first couple years and even after that it'll take you twice as long to pay off the loan as someone who didn't go through the program.

I again beg to differ as many pilots get recruited through Contacts/Reservations therefore talented ones are shunted, happened with my friend in Air India where he performed very well but due to SC/ST quota couldn't make it.
Also one of my friend got recruited with an interview just as a formality because her father is a Captain in Go Air.
There are 3500-4000 pilots adding every year and vacancies are not more than 500 per year, out of which at least 50% get in through contacts and reservations, so that leaves around 250.
Indigo is about to stop hiring freshers for A320 and Jet has already stopped Fresher hiring for 737 due to Cadet Program, Vistara and Spice Jet will follow the same league.
So you cannot say that the ones not employed are not capable.
Stop being a pessimist.

Hello,
I might be helpful to aspirants in need of questions regarding the program,

Just went over about the Indigo Cadet Program with a podcast I did, the selection process, eligibility & requirements, cost associated and whether the type rating is included in the program. Most importantly, Will it be worth it, considering the huge amount of cost associated?

The selection process consisted of 3 phases according to the Cadet, ADAPT test, GD(group discussion) and the Personal Interview round. The selection processes although are intensive, but easy to clear, if you have the right aptitude and knowledge. Tip: would be amazing to contact the Cadets, who would certainly guide you. (I have provided the link in my description)

The eligibility and requirements, since even students out of the High school can opt for the program, they require you to have at least 55% in Maths & physics, although many of the Cadets have had a different careers or even a bachelors degree of some sort, its always preferable to have one starting out in this industry (IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT).

The cost structure are well mentioned in their website comes close to 1.0crore, and the type rating would be done in the 4h phase of the program.
Is it worth the amount?

There is always a risk, aviation industry as a whole is very cyclical and which is something you have to consider before choosing this path, however they do provide an opportunity to get inducted into the airline, giving you a head-start in your pilot career.
