Talking Jetstar Hong kong

Anyone gone through the 2nd stage interview DEC with JetStar HKG?
Is it like the "other Jetstar" companies where you need to do pych tests, flt planning exercise....etc ?

I saw on pprune an interesting post on the J* HKG T&C but it appears that it has been deleted.

What are the terms and condition for DEC ?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Apparently, the are:

Pay: HK$120k pcm
Annual bonus HK$40K
Joining bonus HK150K

And that's it. Don't know about leave.

It may sound good compared to home, but it won't go far in HK. Epsecially considering the KH English Schools Foundation (Governemnrt English language schools) have just announced that parents have to pay a HK$500K non returnable debenture per child for admission.

Yeh, what happened to that thread ?
As Dan said, converting the pay to your home currency and living in clean air, not in a shoebox, and in your home country, the pay probably sounds good.
Sending 2 kids to kindy in DB costs 9k a month, living in DB in a 1/2 decent place will cost upward of 30k/month and then the tax on your 120 odd a month will be close to 20k, starts adding up pretty quick.
As a comparison a KA/CX F/O package ( prior to C scale ) is in the vicinity of 150k a month ( inc 13th month, housing etc ) plus 15% a year, plus schooling etc etc
As with most jobs in HK/China, I'm sure most people will think they know better, take the job regardless of what anybody says, and spend the rest of their days there regretting the decision and whinging on pprune
Good luck

Jetstar HK

Thank you very much for that. I've just been confirmed for my second interview especially since I along with all the expat pilots have just been terminated from my current job. So, before all you know-it-alls start leaping on me. Try to work the past few jobs I've had to since losing my "career" job of almost 20 years. It's much better to be working and productive than sitting on the beach staring at the waves. Thanks again and if anyone knows the sim profile, I'd really appreciate that too!

Pilot planning exercise

Ok, I checked out the website and it looks great but I'm in the Philippines and my roster just won't allow a week off in order to make that session. If anyone knows of an online session or something in Asia, I'd really appreciate it. Also, if anyone has been to the Jetstar HK interview ( I think these are the first this month ) Could you PIN me? I could use the assistance to prepare. Thanks!

info and stuff

Blade: "Jaz,May I ask what your last few companies have been..and from where your rather large expat group has been made redundant from.."

Jaz: No, too personal and you know it. And if you ask to as why, then you are a nut job.

CudbCCQFUK: "did they tell you which routes they will be operating first next year?"

Jaz: No, actually, I personally don't care but as soon as I find out, I'll post it.

Ok "JAZ"
You asked for help,I was about to offer some advice..but I tell you what, how about you keep your attitude and I will leave it alone..

And just for you "JAZ" there are many people on this site whom would be very interested in the carrier that just let a large group of expats go for many many reasons. So maybe your info and situation may help/save someone from the clutches of said employer...

And maybe giving people a real insight into how lucky some of us are and to give other guys a break sometimes who need a little help..

We are all in this together ,I get you have probably been shafted one to many times and that irks to say the least but not everyone here is out to shaft you again..

Good luck with your interviews..

help

Sooooo, how does asking me personal information, on a public forum going to assist other people? Asking me what other airlines I have worked for before, will make if very easy for anyone that has worked with me, to identify me, or when you fly with people, do you never talk about your past? And just like you "Blade" I prefer to stay somewhat anonymous. I appreciate your concern about my future welfare but fortunately so have a lot of other ppruners that have the foresight to use a bit of discretion... Just so you won't have to go away empty handed, it was Cebu Pacific that has recently made all the expat Captains redundant. Now, "Blade" I'll be standing by for the many many reasons that information will assist others from that employer. It's well known, to all that joined, it was a part time job and we were all for the most part treated very well. I'd highly recommend them to anyone needing experience on the A320 and there are at least a half dozen ppruners that I've assisted in joining their ranks. I'm sure if they are out there and see this, they will attest.

And luck is not needed in interviews, but preparation and non-conditional assistance of others is.....

Well thats interesting to know, thanks,I'm sure others will take something from your info..

If you don't wish to put any info on this site thats fine..I was just asking..

I will mention though your attitude,I don't know one aviator who when wished luck would be arrogant enough to say I don't need luck...

So I will not retract a well wish..and suggest you relax a little

All the best on your interview

Luck

Relax a little? Rely on luck to make it through an interview? Ok, thanks for that advice Blade! You've been very helpful and I'll make sure to pop a cold one and use that sage advice to make it through the next round of interviews. Sorry I was so arrogant and I feel much more relaxed now.

The Calvary arrives!

I do have to jump in here and defend the good Jaz Man, I'm not to sure where you got the idea that he was being arrogant from. I think he was just trying to say that luck may be that little more useful if you work hard and do a little study before your sim.

Personally Jaz has helped me quite a lot and has always been open with any information he has ever had. I usually find that a personal message may get you more specific information then demanding it over a anonymous forum.

Your the man, jaz the fatman!

Well thats very nice of you...and probably true

And yes I'm smart enough to realize what he meant and he is smart enough to know that maybe I was not asking to be a pain in his butt, but maybe offer advice...

I have lived here in HK for 15 plus years and I do know a little bit about a little bit...and meant no harm...

now lets get back to the thread for those who need its advice
