Post Hi friend... please help with pa34.

Hi friend,

I am another unemployed pilot but with full of hopes in my life. I have got my single engine cpl. I am looking at doing my multi and ir. I have booked for the pa34 tech specific exam on 7th feb. I know i am late at starting to prepare for the exam.

But i think i will manage. Will be of great help if you could send me across pa34 material and exam tips. Also please suggest me a flying school for pa34 and ir.

my email is [email protected].

thank you,

Simply pilot.

You can download it here

@simplypilot

The PA 34 is pretty expensive to rent in India ( around 50,000 rupees an hour ). So consider going abroad where the rates are way cheaper .

The DGCA had released a new CAR on the procedure and hours required when you go abroad for the rating .
While the CAR says its enough for the flight school abroad to conduct the tech specific exam , I would strongly suggest you clear the DGCA tech specific first.

Refer the CAR here

Fully agree with cyrilroy21 and thank you for uploading the seneca q'bank coz i was having a hard time sending mail to every one.
To all my fellow aviators who have been told by DGCA to do multi-engine chks in India please view the abv CAR mentioned by cyrilroy21 and please make sure you fly strictly according to the abv mentioned CAR or else you might be asked to do the checks agn by DGCA.
Regards,
Karan Sinha

KARAN

The above CAR is for those that already have DGCA CPL and wants to go abroad for a multi rating .

Skill tests in India is only required for those that are converting their licenses . If you have DGCA CPL and want to endorse further aircraft ratings on your CPL you can go abroad and do the checks there itself .

Yes I was thinking abt it but was doubtful abt it since one side DGCA says GFTS to be done in India and on the other hand they take out the circular u mentioned.
I am sure that u have checked up with them(DGCA PPL) abt this.

In my case they issued me CPL and when I asked them abt multi-rating since i had applied for it. Mr AV had to say " Ohh AAPNE PEHLE KYUN NAI BOLA. AB TOH AAPKO TECHNICAL SPECIFIC EXAM LIKHNA PADEGA"( why didnt you tell me earlier now u'll have to write specific for PA-34) and despite me arguing with my cover letter cum application letter saying multi-engine endorsement requested moreover having a multi-rating on my CPL from CANADA I had to do those 3 checks which costed me 1.7 Lakhs at Amber Aviation , Pantnagar.

But the most hilarious part was flying with our Indian CFIs, when I asked for checklist all he said after chewing his RAJNIGANDHA PAAN MASALA was "HUM HAIN NAA CHECKLIST. AAO BAITHO" and I said NO MORE till my checks were completed.

KARAN

I am actually quite surprised at your case since VP Singh on the other hand would tell everyone that since you are endorsed on the mutli on your foreing license you wont have to give tech specific exam .

I am guessing the reason he AV asked you to give the tech specific was because he issued you a DGCA CPL Single Engine only and once you are a DGCA CPL holder you have to give the tech specific exam
I have also seen AV not issue Single Engine IR if you apply for both Multi and Single IR .

Anyway he is not in the licensing dept anymore .

This CAR was only published on the 15th of May 2012 . After clearing the tech specific exam you could have gone abroad and given the checks

Even though the CAR says that you can do the tech exam conducted by the flight school abroad . When you apply for the license the DTL will just sit on your application ( depending on the licensing officer at the time ) and wont accept or reject your application until you pass the DGCA exam.

I have been telling all my friends who are converting their licenses to give the multi tech specific exam ( since the flow chart asks PASS RESULT OF TECH SPECIFIC EXAM )
Not needed for Single since it does not ask that in the flow chart .

@flyer111

As long as P68 that u wish to fly is a multi-engine, there shouldn't be a problem.
coz I flew PA-34 Seneca 1 and appeared here for specific exam of seneca 3 and flew seneca 3 for gft day,night and IR.
Would still ask u to confirm frm the school that if any indian student has done the same or u could go to dgca as well.

Karan Sinha

@KARAN and flyer111

While the DGCA does not differentiate between the various versions of the Piper Seneca e.g.: PA 34 200 or 220
All are endorsed as PA 34 and even the tech exam only says PA 34

They do differentiate between the various versions of the P68 . This is the reason why they conduct different exams for the P68C and P68TC and hence conduct different tech specific exams for their respective aircraft .
