Hi all,
I know this is for second officer but I want to try my luck to ask if it's possible for a 26 years old Singaporean to get in to Cathay as their cadet pilot or it's only open for HK citizen?
I have tried applying for local airlines (SIA and Scoot) cadet pilot programme, but I didn't get called up.
Cathay requirements:
- Have the right of abode in Hong Kong
- Have a secondary school education with good passes in mathematics and science, or a degree or diploma, or passes in all ATPL subjects
I am going to do my CAAS ATPL papers here in Singapore first, will that increase my chances of getting in?
- Jason

What's the current time frame it is taking to transition from SO to FO? If called I would be a TT, does this make a difference in transition time to the right seat? Or is it purely on seniority like in the states? Can someone post a pay scale for SO and the hourly flight pay? it's not listed on APC.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone been accepted in recently? Seems to have gone very quiet, and with the so called "hiring freeze" as called for by Mr. Ivan Chu, it worries me a bit.

Unfortunately there is a rumour going around that the August start date for AE guys will be the last one for now. From then on AE and TT courses are on hold indefinitely. I assume this has to do with the training ban and DEFO decision.

Please go read fragrant harbor. Read as many posts as you can about joining this company.
We are in industrial action trying to get the company to work with us on a career but they won't.
You will be lied to, abused, threatened and even fired. New SO's were told that due to lack of training resources you will have leave given to you. Of course it comes out of your leave bank. We feel that starting your career is a rewarding time and you won't mind.
This company pulls **** like that all the time. If you come here you will see what a terrible employer they are. They are morally and ethically corrupt. They create the rules, expect you to follow them but violate them all the time.
Staff travel is atrocious. Don't do it to yourself, your friends or your family.

Hi all,
I heard about a month ago that I have managed to be offered a place for AE, starting in Adelaide in August. Cheers to some of you on here that helped along the way.
I have also heard the rumour above (that they are closing AE hiring until further notice) but not sure if it is 100% true or not. Does anybody have more "official" word (ie: from CX themselves)?
Good luck to all those with interviews coming up.

I was wondering if anyone heard what sort of salary package cathay would offer to DEFO. I heard they were interviewing guys last week not sure if it was internal applicant among their SO or external applicants.
I also have interest in applying for DEFO but I want to find out what sort of salary package they are willing to offer. I am expecting same pay scale as local FO... but would they put in some sort of bonus like "forgivable loan in 6 years" at least?

Hi Guys
Are here any companions who are also offered the initial 1A interview for SO on 21 Sept in Hong Kong? We can go for a small chat on weekends before the COMPASS test.
Cheers

AE Questionnaire
Hi,
I have been invited to the initial selection in Hong Kong, coming up soon.
Just a few question if you don't mind answering:
What is the most difficult section in the process?
What are some things I will have to watch for? (Perhaps out of the ordinary)
Any recommendation on things to get prepared other than latestpilotjobs .com?
How long did it take you until they got back to you after the initial B selection, and what happen afterwards (fly home while you waited then get reimbursed for the travel back) before the final interview?
Thanks in advance Wantobe!
