Question Flight Simulator in Megabox

Flight Experience Hong Kong - Home Page

Has anybody used the flight simulator in Hong Kong's Megabox? Is it any good?

I see they have a 5-7 month course for $40k HKD which is specifically designed to help applicants prepare for the CX/KA cadet interviews. It seems to contain a combination of theoretical groundwork and flight time on the simulator, and the instructors are all (ex?) Cathay or Dragonair pilots who have come through the respective cadet schemes themselves. Anybody done this?

It is quite a bit of money if you don't even know if you will be given an interview! Obviously if it makes the difference it is well worth it, but I'd feel a bit dumb if I saved up $40k, did this course, and then couldn't even get an interview for a cadet scheme! Presumably spending the money shows your commitment to becoming a pilot, however I'd be concerned that they would have higher expectations from an interviewee who has had the direct help of pilots and ex-cadets and would be wary of a 'raising of the bar'.

Anybody with any experience using the company or thoughts on the course I mentioned?

HKguy, I am sure some people will vouch for these types of course, but In my opinion it is a complete waste of your time and money. The team that interview you want to talk to YOU, not to someone that has been molded into the "perfect" applicant, and they will know instantly whether or not you have been on a course. The information required to go in to the interviews and perform excellently is around, just spend some time reading through the topics on here for a start, and then utilise the internet, EVERYTHING is available with a bit of searching, if you work as hard researching and studying for the interview as you would raising the funds for this then you will be absolutely fine.

A close second to a new Ferrari for a complete waste of money...

Capt Undie, I respectfully disagree, allow me to demonstrate:

Amount of money invested in Megabox is inversely proportional to amount of poontang one gets after mentioning said Box.

Amount of money invested in a Ferrari is directly proportional to amount of poontang one gets after mentioning said Ferrari.

'Tang

I disagree. The emphasis is on the word "new".
The 'tang/dollar ratio is way higher with a carefully tended pre-owned Ferrari.

I would think that spending 15,000HK
and doing 15-20hrs in C150 in OZ / USA/ or Canada
and soloing would make a better impression.

Don't waste your money on the megabox sim

Thanks for all the replies.

So the general consensus seems to be that it is a total waste of time! Cheers!

If anyone has anything to add please do, especially if you have used it.
