EXTREMELY URGENT !!!
Hello everyone !
I'm doing my CPL from the US and will be going back to India for the conversion of my license.
I need some solid confirmation as to if the DGCA is accepting the Canadian and UK RT for getting the Indian FRTOL.
I've heard a lot of rumours everywhere. Some say both are accepted, others say none and some say its only with the Canadian RT !
This is urgent..if you guys could please help me out here !

Canadian
Canadian should be accepted being a common wealth country. I'm not too sure about the UK RT, last I heard, giving the Part 1 exam was required. Since you seem to be based in Delhi, you can have someone go up to their office and ask them directly, that'll be your best bet.

As per the Indian dgca regulations, candidates with the uk rt and required to give part 1 exam and Canadian rtr holders need not give any conversion exam since its a commonwealth member.
Indian rtr's after conversion are now valid for 10 years , however since the Canadian rt is valid only if Canadian cpl is valid which is dependent on the canadian medical , which I think needs to be renewed every year ?!?!?!!
So would that mean that the Canadian rtr/medical/ cpl needs to be valid only AT the time of conversion ?

@clearbluesky, you are right, if you hold a Canadian RTR, then a direct conversion is possible without any exams. I got mine converted initially for 3 years and now renewed for 20 years. Could you shed some light on the validity of the Canadian CPL, I doubt the license itself expires.
From what the current practice goes, they require the Class -1 Medical of that country to be valid for the issue of the converted license. I do not think it is required to be current after that. Nowhere does it say that. For that matter, to exercise privileges of your Canadian license, I'm pretty sure there are several other things that are also required (currency, rating-specific recency etc), but that doesn't seem to be required!

What one needs to do is have a look at the forms

The Main Form itself You only need to fill out COP23 out of this in case your case is that of a renewal
Annexure (For the 20 Year validity thing)
DD required is for Rs. 5000. Rest of the requirements are on the form, and they advise that one submits 3 months before the expiry as it takes that long to renew. This is the part I don't understand, why give an expiry date if they accept papers only upto 3 months before that.

This thread has been inactive for a while now. So i wanted to ask if anyone is aware of any changes in rules regarding RTR(P) & RTR (C).. They still issue RTR (P) on the basis of canadian RT & Canadian CPL right??

Requesting study material/Guides
Hello Everyone,
I am going to convert my FAA Commercial to Canadian Commercial and then eventually get Canadian RT. I read on the Transport Canada website that the only written exam that needs to be given is the Air law exam consisting of the differences of the Air laws between FAA and Transport Canada.
Can anyone provide details on where to find the study material for this exam and if in case any question banks available.
Also please confirm we don't require to get IR on Canadian license if we are looking to submit it to WPC for the sake of RTR(P) ?

I lost my original canadian RT license, though i have a 20 yr valid indian RT license issued i want to issue a duplicate origianal canadian RT... Anybody knows the procedure for it ...

Please pardon, I am new to this forum. This is my first post and I could not find an option to send a direct message.
About myself:
I have registered myself for written test for CAE Indigo pilot program (Gondia). But I find myself more inclined towards building flight hours by becoming flight instructor and once I am experienced enough only then take further important steps towards airline career.
My query:
Since you have done your flying from canada, please share some info on:
1. flight school options.
2. Approx cost of course & acccomadation.
3. Post Canadian CPL, Job options within canada as flight instructor etc. (I checked the JobBank, but hardly saw 1-2 options in Ontario)
4. Is there any scope of canadian PR through PNP after course completion or job offer as flight instructor (prefered Provinces)
5. Indian Job market, which type rating suitable (A320 etc??)
So many questions, I hope you can understand my novice perspective. I will really appreciate your patience & inputs. Looking forward to your reply. Other seniors are also welcome to give their valuable inputs.

I am a recent applicant that went to Canada to give my CPL and RT exam and it was done in one day. Now I am currently in India but will go back to US because I work there. If anyone is in the US trying to get a CPL for Canada - do it quick because it takes time to get all the paperwork sorted out.
For those in India - you can do your canadian medical at authorized centers. The whole process is about 3 months +.
The Canadian CPL exam is tricky. The RT is a breeze thanks to an Indian whom I found in Toronto that gave me a great time with it and a wonderful person.
So be ready.
