Congratz on your final interview invitation.

Expect heavy personal questions instead, the Captain's questions will contain roughly 60% of tech questions, and the rest are personal questions. The HR person will most likely throw 90% of personal questions, though they may surprise you with one tech or two.

Personal experience with no real guarantee to its validity

First Interview

Had my first interview today too! Mine was 3:50. When was yours?

She asked me whether I applied for both Cathay and Dragonair programmes.. I guess there's no way they can't find out so I said yes. Then she asked did I submit both applications in the same period, I said yes also. Then she gave me a kinda weird look which I can't interpret! Hope everything's fine

I also accidentally asked them about the 'recently graduated MPL class'... which she immediately shot me down, since even MPL1 is still under training.. then she said I should have did my research better. sigh,,

What's her response to your answer about you applying to both companies??

I also got asked about CPL vs MPL. Sigh I shouldn't even ask her about MPL... We are not undergoing MPL procedures anyway. Revealed that I didn't do enough research now

She also told me they'll notify me by next Tuesday! Fingers crossed!

She asked if there was any chance from CX and i simply told her i still haven't receive any response from them yet. Don't worry it's a question that they ask every single candidate.

BTW, i just received the call. I'll be having my ICAO test on Tuesday....they r pushing so hard, i had my IT test on 8th and ICAO on 28th...just 20 days...GOSH i want more time to prepare

Hey Alvin,

Did they tell you by when you should receive your call? And did you look at the score on apt test? If you do, you should have some idea on whether you are gonna receive their call or not.

Btw, for first interview, you are basically being a salesperson, you are trying to sell yourself to KA. So make sure you know about your own strengths AND weaknesses, tell them why you are suitable, what you have done to pursue your dream, show them that you know about the programme, you know about the career and you know about aviation. Of course you should expect some very personal questions, just make sure you remember what you've written on your CV and application form, and dont try to be someone else, dont tell lies.

For ICAO english, it is actually all about your foundation, which is very hard to improve in a short period. But what you can do is try to learn how to be more organized and logical. For example, if your vocabulary is not that good, or your accent is still a bit local, then maybe try to impress them by being organized in describing things, or be logical, dont make stupid comments.

Actually you can google on the internet and there are many websites that teach you how to describe pictures, for example. Or you can simply google some aviation pictures, try to do a little bit exercise on it and ask for comments from peers. (that is actually what I am doing at the moment LOL.)

Wish you all the best!

it is still similar to the previous format, but no more paraphrasing and the video is no longer showing a guy catching a flight with oversized golf bag.

The first part of the test is basically similar to the first interview, it asks about some personal and aviation related questions. Also there would be a part in which the interviewer gives you a topic about aviation and you would have to talk about it. Besides, now you can write down notes for the listening part.
