I envy you! Hehe! I really want to go to the US for training. FSA is considered a famous flight school in the USA. Have you checked their rates? You know what, you could spend less if you do it in a local flight school or should I say the FBO route (technically). Again, I envy you, I chose to train here in the Philippines because I know I could save a lot of money. Are you into a "cadet" style training, where you'll be stuck with numerous students in class wearing the complete pilot's uniform? I'd rather choose the one-on-one instruction being done in smaller schools and wear comfortable clothes.

@ franztorres21 that is a wise choice!!!! FSA is a boeing company as well, with a very good rep school, you'll definitely be marketable afterwards..
@ areocadet, definitely there are omni's before who are n the airline now, just call their attention they'll show up soon.

putting Clark Av there (updated name of CIA) is quite misleading since they offer a different license (MPL, instead of CPL). on their own, they are quite powerless to "sell" their graduates to the airlines unless the airline sponsors the students. according to friends in the CAAP, they are not even allowed to offer the MPL again until an airline sponsors it. Right now, MPL is not an option for prospective cadets who want to study on their own. they are just finishing off all those in the old program.
The Sharjah thing that was mentioned is also not for all non-5J. the others are still in grave limbo, which is bad for a limited license like the MPL.
Based on another thread and my own research, CA at the moment is offering a CPL/IR program for which they have no graduates yet. so for a strictly apples to apples comparison, they do not yet have any cadets with any of the airlines. i heard the fees are quite high too by 20 to 30%, though they do have good equipment like i mentioned in a previous post.
just need to be accurate here. suggest you guys do a LOT of research.

Costs more than what my friend paid in a local flight school here. The PPL-CPL/IR costs $40,000 which is a bit higher than average in other schools as well. What's causing them to increase fees? Facilities? Hmmm..

yeah i imagine it's mostly facilities and overheads (FIs, admin salaries, aircraft, building lease, etc). can't be any other stuff as the course is supposed to be highly regulated, thus few deviations in terms of flying hours between the schools.

@chairwrecker: I think you're right. I just crossed out CIA in my flight school choice list because of that. I'd rather spend the extra cash for additional hours and equipment as well..

Pal aviation is the only local flying school with the G1000 cessna. In my opinion, there’s really no need for you to fly glass cockpit 172s. Apart from being expensive it’s not really a requirement in case you want to fly commercial. Just make sure you get a solid foundation especially in your IFR training.

just to add another permutation in your search, may i suggest you consider the time of the year you intend to do the flying? it rains a lot in DMIA/ Clark from July to October so it's very difficult to get VFR flight hours in Omni. i am not sure about Plaridel, maybe the others can offer their experiences, but it shouldn't vary too much. what i have been told is that July to October is bad for almost everyone in Luzon (Subic, Iba, Tuguegarao, Clark, Plaridel, Lubang), but maybe not as bad in Dumaguete/ Cebu/ Bohol where there are also some respectable schools.

But I'm still going to a local flight school here in Luzon because of personal referrals and reasons. I won't start this season though, perhaps on October or November. Thanks again!

Well, I am quite interested in banner towing, charter/air taxi, traffic watch, etc. Can anyone mention some companies hiring pilots for such services?

You can try Fish Runs on multi-engine aircraft. You have to pay for the initial hours (approx. 100 hours at 5K to 7K per hour), then after that you will be hired as co-pilot.

Nice you mention that. There will be one I know of that will be ready to fly by early next year if your willing to wait that long. I'm sure there's more around the country though.
