and be thankfull for such an opportunity
I don't disagree, it is a great opportunity as long as the right kind of people go for it. ie young and single. If the alternative is sweeping hangar floors in GA for free, then this would be a great option.
Alls I know is the wage is low, and cost of living high. Hence the comment: "Have you done your research".
good luck.

if pay is the main thing that you consider, then be sure that CX won't take you.

Blogsey, commercial pilot is a life time career, a well respected professioanl, you don't just look for short term return. if you talk a/b pay, do you know how much a FO make? "have you done your reserach"? not to mention a/b being captains. hk's cost of living is high, but i'm sure the $ you make from being pilots can fill up your flat w/ beers..

you got to have passion, not just the skills. you need to take the responsibilites of 100s of your passengers' life...

study material???

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if any of you have some suggestions on what to read for the interview.
Maybe those who went through the interview could help the rest to prepare?

Thank you very much for your time and best of luck to all!!!

Darkrampage: Your post gave me hope marks wise, haha..I just finished a degree in biomedical science (not great marks at all) and now doing a pgdip in the same thing..I read in another post of yours that you're now preparing for the flight grading so congrats!-all the best =)..It seems most of you guys have done/are doing a degree in aviation..I'd like to think flapsupdown is correct when s/he say there is no perfect mould. I submitted my application yesterday so hopefully I get an interview--good luck to everyone that applied =)

Since you have done a solo and have approx 30 hours logged, they will expect you to know a little bit about how planes fly (physics, aerodynamics), parts of a plane, how they work and their function.

Study Material

Thanks for the help flapsupdown.

What about the aptitude test, personality test, mathematics. Are there any books out there i should get to prepare for my self? I spoke to some friends who are currently flying and they told me to prepare for these.

Another question I have is, how long does it approximately take them to respond to the application

If there is someone who has been through the interview and kind enough to shed some light. I think there are a lot of people who would appreciate it.

Thanks.

wheelercm,

if i were you i would also take a good, long look at the manual of the aircraft you have flown. knowing the aircraft you fly is always a good thing from the perspective of a pilot!

as for books, well...

aptitude test - i didnt prepare for this one at all, i believe that most people innately possess the things they are looking for (eye-hand coordination, logic). but if you really want something to look at, take a look at the sample Qantas psychometric test. this test has been mentioned numerous times in the forum, have a look for it.

personality test - there is no book for this, just answer truthfully. they will ask you pretty random questions about yourself, so you cannot really prepare.

mathematics test - the test isn't hard in terms of its mathematical depth, but it is very tedious and long winded. i suggest you practice your manual calculation skills, since calculators are not allowed in the test. i used the GMAT textbook to prepare for this test. the contents of the GMAT test are not similar to the CX math test in any way, but the main point is the GMAT practice tests will get your mind back into gear. have a try.

good luck!

well said holdmetight...

like he/she said - a lot of it you cannot really prepare for...sure you can try some IQ tests and play some video games but there isn't anything you can do to improve your score significantly....

also, remember that although they are part of the selection process, CX does not use the scores from these ALONE to determine who the best candidates are....I think whats more important than these tests are the interviews where they get to see you in person and hear about your interests....

As holdmetight said, be very honest on your personality test...these tests have specific questions thrown in the bunch designed to see how consistent your answers are...and if u lie....well, thats pretty much the end....
