They need the Right of Abode in order to get application through... So unless you have a connection to Hk , its a dead end.
So what ever you read on the career web page holds true.
On the flip side, a HK national applying to join Pinoy Airlines will elicit what response?

Cathay IV prep
Hey guys,
I know this thread is a little old however just got back from final interview round at Cathay and thought I might add my 2 cents.
The sim check was a bit stressful but I bucked up and went for a sim sesh before hand. Best decision and highly recommended if you haven't flown a larger aircraft before. Behavioural went well so fingers crossed. Hopefully should hear early in the new year...
Did anyone else do a sim session before hand? I live in Perth and this guy has just opened up a new business so didn't have to fly to Sydney to use the sim there. Highly recommend - think it was called 747 Flight sensation. Was a little out of the way but an total steal compared to the Qantas sim which I had considered going to but at 5 grand, was totally out of my budget considering an FO's salary on a regional airline.
Looking forward to hearing how everyone goes...give us a shout of you are in Perth and need a hand with study.
Cheers,
LF

Hi guys,
I am going to have my stage 1a in two weeks from now and 1b in the next day. I hold CPL. Does anyone know if a captain will be there during stage 1b for experienced applicant?

When to expect AE calls
Hi guys,
I had applied for AE programme two years back, had failed to notice that the profile gets deleted if i do not update. So i regenerated a new PRN and profile last week.
When can we expect to get calls for AE, I have 250+TT and Degree. Not a HKID holder. I hope this fulfills the min. requisites.
Please do let us know if any expats have started getting calls!

I have a couple of questions regarding the SO job:
1.Are all SO's recruited for the passenger division or is there an option to fly freight?
2.I have read that all recruited pilots go thru 90 hours of simulator training? Is there any truth to that?
3.Do we get a full type rating or is it one of those ratings for relief pilot?
4.previous applicants have said the HR asks if you were given an option to fly one of our fleet which one would it be?Do they take into consideration what we answer and maybe give that same a/c we want!

2. Not entirely sure but once you get back from FTA Adelaide and are assigned to a fleet, you'll be spending around three months on the sim to receive line training and your a type rating.
3. SOs get what's called a P2X rating, which is initially a relief pilot rating. The P2X hours that your rack up as an SO count at half rate to the 1500 total hours needed to eventually obtain a HKCAD ATPL license.
4. They absolutely couldn't care less. They're just asking to see if you know enough about the company and the CX fleet. They might ask you more technical questions once you've answered to gauge your familiarity with planes.
