Question about applying a job in Cathay Pacific???

Hi, everyone...

I need someone kindly to provide me a direction which way should I go...

Right now, I'm holding a FAA Part-141 CPL airplane Multi-Engine land with Instrument rating, <292 total hours, 65.1 Multi Engine>
and I have complete the (cadet pilot programme) application form, and upload my CV on the homepage.

My question is

1:How long should I wait to get the reply from Cathay Pacific??

2:In each year, what is the date and month will Cathay Pacific start the recruitment??
(Or where can I get the information about the recruitment)

3: It is any department in Hong Kong or Taiwan I can go to book an appointment and have a interview or give them my CV??

I know it is difficult to get a job in Cathay Pacific, but I perfer to make action rather to wait.

So please to everyone, if you know the answer please provide it to me.

Thankyou so much!!!

Hi Billy,

The following steps should help you.

Step 1) Are you a HKID card holder? If yes proceed to step 2, if no then proceed to step 4.

Step 2) After submitting your application, be patient, wait, they will call you eventually if you are selected. Interviews are done on a regular basis.

Step 3) If selected they will call you then send you an e-mail to confirm what is to be expected on the interview date and what you should bring.

Step 4) You are not a HKID card holder or have failed their screening process and will not hear from them any time soon.

Best of luck.

yes I hold a HKID...

Another question I like to ask is,

Did Cathay Pacific care about <1 Star or 3 Star> on the ID???
or doesn't matter???

Only the full 3 star gets the priority, otherwise you will be waiting like other non HKID holders.

No the stars do not matter, it is whether you hold a PERMANENT ID card or not.

I know this as I have 4 friends who have just gone through either stage 1 or 2 and only 1 of them has the 3 stars on the ID card.

I too have gone through the cadet process and I do not hold the '***' on my permanent HKID card.

ah ok, i always thought 3 star was perm and 1 star wasn't

i checked my email again and the info did say permanent hkid holders only get priority and i just assumed that meant 3 stars on the card.

sorry for the confusion.

The stars has something to do with HK locals who have parents born in HK.

1 star would be from 11-18 years and then when you re-apply for your adult ID you get 3 stars. The stars also mean that you are of HK/Chinese nationality and may not hold a 2nd nationality unless you drop the HK/Chinese one.

At least this is my understanding of the star system but it is completely separate to having a permanent or non-permanent ID card.

Now I'm notified that there are 2 rounds of interviews - initial A and B.

May I know normally how long will it take to be informed and invited for initial B after initial A?

Expect questions related to aviation. Did you even try to read the 260 pages of posts here? Seek, and you shall find.

a bit off topic but...just wondering how do you feel when applying for the cadet course?

do majority here deep down feel they have got what it takes to become an cadet pilot?

or like many just trying because they like the idea of becoming an pilot?

Hi guys,
I am going to have cx initial A test and it includes two parts , Technical multiple-choice Questionnaire (45mins) and Compass Aptitude Test (90mins)
I would like to know what will be the technical questionnaire ask. Will it focus on the JKI booklet or just simply ask for the physics knowledge?

Thanks ~~

''I would like to know what will be the technical questionnaire ask''.

Wow, is this the caliber of ppl applying.

I remember when i first applied i devoured every book, article, scrap of news about aviation, planes, engines, flying, georgraphy,wx,etc, etc could get my hands on -and that was before Google.

In the end the interviewer asked my what the Swire logo represents and what keeps the Concord up in the air when it's so rarified up there.

The technical multiple choice questionnaire is an easy stuff. All you have to do is to study hard the JKI booklet that they sent you, and you'll be fine. Yes you're correct. 95% of the questions are from the booklet. Only few of them are not. but don't worry about it. They are easy. You can almost hit the answer right away, well assuming you've studied a bit of the info of the company. I would say go focus on the COMPASS because that one is tough. It has killed a lot of guys as i remember. Good luck!

Exactly what I am doing at the moment (books and the internet). With internet, information is just around the corner, but also because of that, expectation from us is also a lot higher...which means we actually have more homework to do than you back in the days

To be honest, the questions asked these days at the interview seem to be alot easier than before, and if anything, more people are getting through than before.

Don't speculate and hope for easy questions, study hard and you will do fine.
