Hi I just like to ask people on here who have applied for the cadet course, if you never even had 1 lesson? How do you know you want to be a pilot? do you know whats it like to be up there?
I'm no expert but I have had many lesson before even thinking of submitting my application in. Just wondering thats all...if i hated my trial lesson back in 08, i would not be thinking of a career in this sector...
Just curious...

New selection process
hi everyone!
I wonder anyone can shed some light on the new selection process?
According to CX's brand new CPP website,
Stage 1: COMPASS aptitude testing, Reasoning test , Job knowledge test and interview.
Stage 2: Group exercise, Flight Planning assessment, Professional Profile, Aptitude test, and interview
Stage 3: Aircrew medical, English language test
Stage 4: Flight grading assessment in FTA
Someone already shared the apt test in stage1, what are we going to do in stage 2 for the apt test now then?
Thanks!

Ok, so Ive been invited for the interview on the 18th July to Hong Kong, Im just curious for how long will I need to stay in hong kong i.e. How long is the interview selection process if I pass all of the stages.
Im currently looking for tickets to hong kong but im not sure when I should book my flight back home.
As I do not want to book a 1 week ticket and then I find out that I will need to attend another interview in 2 weeks time.

I got invited to attend the interview in July on 9th May too.
The HR lady said she would email me to confirm also.
But I still haven't got her email, how about you guys?
I am 100% sure the email address is alright and correct on my application.
Thanks.

Hi Dreamlinerwannabe
I am not quite sure about your case.
For my case, I received email and it requires me to confirm the attendance before the HR send another confirmation.
The confirmation would be with the JKI Booklet as well.

I got my confirmation email two days later, so it just depends on the case I guess. Good luck everyone! I am still wondering what do they do in stage 2's apt test after we have done our compass test in stage 1A.

Hi tchanhk,
I believe you cant find any statement from CX saying about this.
Indeed, CX handles case by case.
Just the fact is majority of applicant is blocked after two attempts.
And personality, I know a few current CX pilots who got success in their three or more tries.
Go ahead man. Let's get a seat in CX

Yea...I guess so
Different HR department but can cross check via the system they have
So probably would have similar culture
It is good to worry about being blocked as it makes you treasure the chance.
Good luck man!

Been hearing alot about the high failure rates at recent flight gradings
(compared to a few years ago), some classes with up to 1/3 or even 1/2 fails?
Anyone fathom a guess as to why this is happening? I know they shortened the
grading to 4 flights for basics, but I would've thought FTA would lower the
standards to accommodate for the change?
Perhaps anyone who recently did Flight Grading can give some insight, but it
seems like either FTA has decided to mark alot harder, or cathay is using flight
grading to cut out alot of people (maybe because too many are getting through
the new simplified process)?
PS: if cathay hr is using the flight grading as a major cut off point, seems like
very inefficient use of resources...
