I used to work at the Training College in Adelaide where you will do your 4 weeks of "Finesse" training if you get in as a SO. Back in the late 80's & early 90's, there were people getting in with 1200 hrs total, piston only.
It all depends on supply and demand at the time. Currently there are lots of qualified people so the "Unofficial" experience is more like what they are stating above.
But to answer you original question, It has been done before.

Hi guys!
I’ve been reading through this thread and it seems that some people say that PIC turboprop time is a must and others just say turbine time will do…
I’m 23 years old at this stage. I have 1400. A 1000 hours are on medium turboprops and I just recently started on a medium jet which I have about a 100 hours on. My only PIC time is on pistons and it’s about 200 hours.
I started applying at CX by the end of last year, so in you guys’ opinion…what are my chances of getting an interview say in the next year or so?
Thank you
van
