guys...ask anyone in the SIA group right now and they will tell u SilkAir is the place to be....the management seems to be doing something right, their cadets get checked out as First Officers 6 months before the mainline or worse still cargo guys even start their sims...so if u get Silk, thank ur lucky stars..captaincy in 6 years and rated on a plane that'll get u a job with almost any airline....looking back, i wish i put silkair as my first choice!

@bobmarley, here's something for you to feel better: Many other major airlines want pilots with wide-body experience. Cathay, emirates, etc. You're not getting that from SilkAir. Just so you know

bobmarley, it doesn't matter what you put as your first choice. Joyce would have made the decision for you.

Devil no point brother

the Mafia Boss who seems to be in trouble these days, still controls his goons, and it's all rigged. You have to kiss XXXX to get there and stay there. No offence but it is true... or invest in Golden Key..

It's true, SilkAir is the place to be as you'll clock sectors faster hence upgrade faster. Plus you'll get to fly and be type-rated on aircraft types that are in much more demand in the aviation business ie the A320 series as compared to the B777 used by the mainfleet.

Cheers!

Lampoon,

Here's something for you to think about. All those airlines you mentioned in you post hire plenty of direct entry single aisle time pilots including SilkAir. Where do you get your info from?

That explains the very civilian-looking jet flying around TAB...any idea what it does?
I've seen it a couple of times, it can't be to chauffeur the CAF around right?

The G550 for Singapore Technologies/Aerospace/Pacific Flight Services MAY or MAY NOT not have been delivered yet. If/when it comes it will be utilized as a trainer for the AEW Gulfstreams the SAF is getting to replace the E-2C's.

PFS currently operates a Lerjet 35 and 45 for passenger charter, air ambulance and mil contract (mostly target tow). The 35/45 are overall white with red striping and the ST logo on the vertical tail.

enquiry

I've seen that this thread has come a long way since few years ago and therefore has many pilots in here as well as many good advice/recommendations.

Here's my scenario. I'm currently 24 and I am interested to enter SIA as a pilot. My chances of joining rsaf were hindered due to admin problem(i think) i passed all 3 stages but was nv called up. When i called them, they never seem to have an idea where my application went. Sadly, I already ord.

Now my question is... when will SIA start recruiting? Ive bookmarked their career pilot appointment in my website. But it always shows that there is no position available. Is there any other way that i can apply from? And i heard from netizens that i shld apply when im 25.5 years of age? is it true?

Hey evis, there was an article in the Straits Times last Saturday which mentioned the earliest SIA would start cadet recruitment would be mid 2010. I guess this would depend largely on how the economy fares and the demand for air travel.

hi guys,

i've just applied through the website but my little cousin who took over the computer accidentally clicked on the tab which states that i no longer wished to be considered for the position.

As such, my application was rejected by the system straight away and it forbids me from applying again.

anyone have any idea what i can do now? help deeply appreciated.
