IS SWIMMING MANDATORY

Hi all,

I applied for SIA that's open to all nationalities, however there was a question on whether one is able to swim more than 100m. Is that mandatory or should i go to a swimming class immediately.

Cadet Pilot article on ST

Good day fellow enthusiasts,

There was an article today in ST and they are casting their nets to other nationalities as well. Looks like this program is to cater to the 67 A350's on order.

Cheers and all the best for the interviews to all who've applied.

Hi GENx,

If you've watched 'Sully' you've must've have seen the unprecedented successfull landing on the Hudson river. Swimming is mandatory for all flight crew to be ready for critical situations as these. So carriers require the crew to train to swim in uniform to simulate real life scenarios.

Is Direct Entry Second Officers open to international applicants? Or just the cadet scheme?
Thanks

Applied as a UK national.

I have a query, I am currently doing a 4 year degree that works as follows, you do:

- 3 years of modules/lectures

- Professional flight training (this isn't with the university, you get your own cadetship/fund your own private training with a partner flight school, they use FTE Jerez, however if we find our own cadetship they will accept it.

Upon completion of the flight training you then have completed your degree (once you have also done your 3 years of lectures/exams)

Does anyone know if SIA will accept this? I have done my 3 years of lectures but am currently seeking to do my flight training which will finalise it?

Thanks for any help

Hi momo95,

I'm not quite sure regarding your situation. Maybe you could give SIA a call and get the confirmation?

Hi mic310,

According to the SIA website, international applicants can only apply for the ab initio cadet pilot position. The direct entry second officers is for Singapore citizens or Singapore permanent residents.
