mmm well mine was just about over a month back, and 3 out of the 8 of us managed it to the medical. but i think a few others were told that they were under review, perhaps because of their age. so, perhaps 4 out of 8? all the best!

After my service with RSAF i hope to transit over to SIA(Hope my CO don see this!!!). From what i know they will only take 3/4 of your flying hrs. CAn anyone enlighten me?

Hi Taeyang, congrats on getting into RSAF!

Regarding the conversion, you would do well to go to the CAAS website to read the Air Safety Publications (regs) on conversion etc.

IIRC, you need 700 hours TT to convert, which I'm sure you'll have by then. Plus the fact that you're flying a "transport type" aircraft rather than a single engine fighter jet, you're in good shape!

Taeyang,

We've got a KC135 pilot with us in SQ. He is so senior we all call him Uncle. But, he's is on the right hand seat. And after a few years of jumping through lots of hoops, he is finally put on the command programme.

Yes, i failed once and i went again and again. You have to be really thick skin to keep calling them and ask for reschedule. Alot of people think that you can only try once but the fact is you can keep trying. The compass test you take is vaild for 3 years. I called them until they know its me the moment they hear my voice. I did about 7 interview before i was accepted.

My education is really not that good but its the passion you show them that you really want to become a pilot and i think that make them accept me.

Hi taeyang!

thanks for sharing with us your journey to RSAF! It is very inspiring. I hope you can advise me applying for the RSAF.

I applied to join the RSAF back when i was a recruit in 2008, but i failed to make the cut for it. Right now, as i am in the midst of my university education, i realized that the only thing that i want to do in future is to fly. So i tried to call RSAF to see if i could apply again and this was when i found out that my COMPASS test results in 2008 qualified me for the WSO fighter only. However, as my COMPASS test results are 3 years old, they have expired and i can take another test.

I would like to know if one fails to make the cut for RSAF as a pilot in the COMPASS test, does he automatically qualify for WSO Fighter? and, is the RSAF COMPASS test more stringent? if i make the cut for WSO in my compass test, is it safe to say that i should be able to pass the compass test in SIA?

Thank you.

Hi nickings,

by any chance, are you the same person that posted a comment on www.hoongji.********.com's post about his alma mater in malaysia?

I too, am from Saint Joseph's Institution, graduating class of 2005.

There is nothing more than i want than a career in flying. unfortunately, i am still stuck in university as i am underaged to apply to join SIA.

If there are any pilots from SJI, hello!

By the way, does anyone here knows how i can go about applying for an internship with SIA? i have scoured the internet for SIA's hr department number or email address but i cannot find it. SIA's recruitment system does not have any offers for internship as well. If anyone knows, please send me a message!

Thank you!

Hi zlct, nice to see another sji old boy around here! Haha what a small world. I'm class of '06. I doubt SIA has any internship. What positions are you looking for?

zlct - Yes, go and take again and what my Sir told me is that be consistent in the test kind of like "if you plan to be the good guy that give the right politic answer be that guy all the way and if plan to be the bad guy than be the bad guy. Don't be a half half"

From what i know compass test do grade you which vocation you are. ITs what you apply and the interview that grade you.

If you cannot make it for the pilot you can ask for reschedule for WSO fighter interview. The impt thing is to ask if not RSAF will not be bother to do anything for you. Airforce Recruitment Center mostly is handle by Pilot drop out and those waiting to go for air grading, so they are kind of hack care.

SO just call and call> Don say is i teach one. Anything about the interview or you need any help just let me know.

yannisoar - Thanks alot!!!
