final interview

I recall reading somewhere in this forum that some who failed on their final interview were given a second chance to undergo the whole interview process all again. Anyone with similar experience?

I do not know where you read it. It may be true in the past but not for now. Year 2011 is no longer 2010.

Let me share with you the latest update from now onwards (17 August 2011, 10.46p.m.). Once you failed your final interview, that's it! You will not get second chance anymore.

I wasn't attacked by many tech questions, my interview was about 25 minutes, only 5 minutes about tech, 20 minutes about myself, my background, my family.

So here's the question, very common, explain how does a jet engine work? phew!

Going for medical check up tmr phew!!

Gonna wait for a long time after medical check up right.. from what i read from this thread, call back after 5 days to check if I am cleared? then wait for SIA's decision after that.. this will take the longest, right? any idea how long i should wait for?

I need to give 2 months notice.

Kurai,
congrats! yes, you are right in what you mentioned about the waiting time. For my case, I waited for about 3-4 weeks since my medical before I got the confirmation email.

Hi, there's no dental check up =)

They are not looking for scientist or scholars, but pilots. Doesn't mean that if you have 3 As and another person got 6 As, he will get in and you won't.

Most importantly is, when SIA HR looks at your results, they must have the confidence that you have the calibre to get through the intense studying required for ATPL.

Based on what other ppl had said before, the minumum requirement is bla bla bla, you can check the previous posts. Anything more is just a bonus but not critical.

Good luck to you, and to me!

@purplehearts: as long as you fulfill the minimum requirements of the job posting, (of course hopefully you are not boderline everything D7), I believe that you can get an interview.

What matters is the impression you make during the interview.

As a pilot I believe you need the following qualities:
1. Willingness to learn, because aviation is an ever changing industry and the cockpit is an environment where nothing is constant. You are always learning.

2. Willingness to conform (to a certain extent). Airlines are all about SOPs. The Airline needs to know if you can stick the the rules.

3. Integrity. By this I mean don't lie in your resume. They will know. Pilot licenses are also tied to your driving record. One drink driving incident and your license is 99% RTO.

4. Ability to lead. Because at the end of the day you're being trained to command a crew of an Airliner.

About that 26 yo rule,

Airline Pilots Association - Singapore -

don't know if it still holds true or if there are exceptions in certain situations.
On the other hand there are still ppl 23 or 24 applying like myself.
