hi
for those going for interviews, are those with business degrees at a disadvantage or less likely to be considered for cadet pilot as compared to those with eng or other degrees?
& how about those who apply earlier before the age of 26 ( assuming they are qualified to and are s'poreans ) and lets say, only have an A levels cert. What are their chances of getting in? Would they be deemed not mature enough?

Hi, I would like to know what is the possibilities of becoming a pilot once you got enrolled into their cadet pilot program? Does it "virtually" assured you a place in SIA pilot team once you enrolled?

@ coolpapaya : Nothing is assured. Even rich guys can end up bankrupt.
@ hopeful11 : It used to be a case when people said they prefer guys with engineering degrees to business degrees. But at the end of the day I believe it is how well you perform during the interviews.
How would you deem someone as being mature enough? There are guys who may be old but not as mature. As long as you meet the entry requirements, every one stands an equal chance.

@coolpapaya: I believe SIA does not want to 'chop' trainees for no rhyme or reason. It's pretty expensive to train someone from ab intio right up to SO level. All they want is to train someone worthy to fly their planes and make money. If they really wanted to chop you, they will probably do it in the early stages of your training. But then again, as long as you do something which is not to SIA's liking, they will probably sack you anytime, even when you are a full-fledged pilot. "not to SIA's liking" could be anything, such as doing badly during training or not following the rules and toeing company lines could result in you being given the boot.
So to answer your question of whether you would be assured a position as a SIA pilot, I believe the answer is no. Nothing is certain in this world.

hi everyone. need some advice n insight on what is happening.
after going through both rounds of interview and medical, i was rejected via email with no explanation. replied their email to ask for reason n received an "unable to disclose" response.
does anyone know wad is usually the reason for being rejected? called ST medical to check n they confirmed i pass all my medical.

sorry to hear about that ghost, i have a friend who had that experience as well. good thing he didnt take it too hard. it's one of those things that we might never receive closure if rejected, so just gotta move on.

merino, did ur fren get rejected recently? i went for 2nd interview on 10th Nov 2010, if anyone from that interview date is also around reading. it's a sucky feeling n i feel i deserved to at least know y i did not make it.

have you heard of cadets getting booted after coming back from Aussie? Yes, it happens too, and for no apparent reason
you're only safe after you sign the 7yrs bond when become F/O

@gh0st: actually I've got 2 friends who got rejected after medical. 1 of them continues to work in his current job, the other is applying for other flying jobs (he was a grad from flying sch)..
one got rejected somewhere in feb, the other was in late oct, i should add that they both didnt get reasons.. just company policy to reduce workload i suppose..?

besides SIA, are there any other airlines that accepts sgreans as cadets? i dun mind trying again. just called SIA n they still refuse to reveal the reason. n they also said no point in me applying SIA again. can it be due to downsizing?

u can try cathay pacific
jetstar also can, but it's not cheap, training costs is almost S$200,000
