Cathay First Interview!

Hi there!

I have a CX first interview comming up. I really used pprune a lot and I collectet thousand of questions during the last year.
Well, I also studied HTBJ, How to prepare for your CX Interview, Bristow and several ATPL books.

I think I´m well prepared, I also studied their internet site. Iknow the exact amount of airplanes, types, engines, thrust,...

But I think I have a small problem, my english is not the best, and it´s pretty difficult for me to talk about a subject in nice english.
That fact makes me a little nervous. So what do they expect from me? Do you need to explain everything perfectly?

And furthermore I think I will be pretty nervous during the interview.

What have been you experiences?

I will post all questions when I´m done with the interview, because pprune was so much help for me.

Thank you!

Hi Alpine

Definitely, fluent and accurate English is the basic requirement for pilot, especially like cx, a real multi-culture working environment.

Well, we can't do so much in a short time to improve English, then just relax, and be yourself in the interview, say as clear as you can.

good luck!

Cheers

Alpine,

your written english is just fine, so keep the confidence up. Are you worried about your accent, or language structure?

Good Luck

hey guys,

I've got the email for initial interview as well. The lady asked me if I would stay in Hong Kong permanently and I said Yes. She asked me to contact her as soon as I get back to Hong Kong to make an appointment for the first interview. She also mentioned that the whole selection process would take about 2 to 3 months.

Good Luck to you all

R

P.S I am in the U.S.

English is my second language as well.
I know that english is an international language for aviation. Important thing is to learn how to communicate with co-workers.

Such a short time is extremely difficult to get your english to a better level, so just stay calm, and do whatever that can possibly helpful for the interviews.

Good luck guys/gals.

All I can say is practice your interview questions on someone. It helps with the nerves and also you get a better idea of how to word your answers. Especially with the personal questions. Practice, practice and more practice.

When you get into the interview you will have practiced a few times not to get nervous and the answers will be polished rather than rough answers you thought about during the trip to Hong Kong.

The answers don't have to be word perfect for your personal interview but they want to see that you have thought about the questions they will be asking.

As regard to the technical questions - everybody will be asked basically the same questions so the answers won't vary much, just how they are presented.

Even if English is not your first language, practice them in English on someone who speaks english.

Good luck!!!
