I used to use it to find out where the aircraft I was due to takeover was in flight and its ETA. Certainly more accurate than the nonsense the handling agent told me.

Yes the LIS easyjet aircraft were grounded today, du to strike action by LIS based pilots over terms and conditions. The easyjet flights you saw in LIS were operated by UK based aircraft and crews.

Company I work for (UK LoCO) doesn't use anything. Once the cabin manager has given the cabin secure it means that the cabin crew are also seated at their stations. Same also applies for landing.
