Its not as simple as that. I'll take more control and slimmer margins on clearances any day, provided the margins are still sufficient to string safely. If not, yes, use a weight and get up above it....

No one has a global database. We build new lines every day and it takes years for them to show up in anyone's database. The database based Wirestrike protection options do as much harm as good (IMO)...

I know Erickson tried it about 25 years ago with 2 sky cranes. One aircraft got slightly lower than the other and it shifted the load and over torqued the heck out of one of the aircraft.
